Job Description
We are looking for an Interoperability & HIE Modernization Project Manager to lead critical projects advancing health information exchange (HIE) capabilities and interoperability across healthcare, public health, and community partners. This position is full-time and hybrid, with remote work available 2 days per week and on-site presence in Indianapolis required 3 days per week. Travel is required for this role.
What You?ll Do
Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of interoperability and HIE modernization projects
Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, risk registers, and performance metrics
Coordinate with internal teams (IT, legal, finance, RHTP initiative leads) and external partners (vendors, providers, regional coalitions, and stakeholders)
Manage vendor relationships, including contract oversight, deliverable tracking, and performance management
Support adoption of interoperability standards, data exchange frameworks, and best practices (e.g., HL7, FHIR, APIs, data sharing agreements)
Track project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies
Facilitate stakeholder engagement, change management, and communication efforts related to modernization efforts
Prepare briefings, reports, and presentations for leadership, partners, and oversight bodies as needed
Ensure projects align with broader organizational strategy, RHTP goals, and long-term sustainability objectives
Support other Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) activities as requested
What You'll Need
Required:
Bachelor?s degree from an accredited university in public health, health informatics, information systems, or a related field
5+ years direct, applicable experience in project or program management, health IT, healthcare operations, or data/interoperability initiatives
Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder programs or projects
Strong project management, organizational, and analytical skills
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to leadership and external stakeholders
Experience managing vendors, contracts, or external partners
Proficiency with common productivity and project management tools (e.g., Microsoft O365, project management platforms, collaboration tools)
Preferred:
Master?s degree in a relevant field
Working knowledge of healthcare data exchange, interoperability concepts, or HIE environments
Physical Demands
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards.
Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor.
Must be able to communicate with customers/team members over the phone and in person.
Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

$45 - $48 per hour
The pay range for this position is listed above.Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education.
