Data Engineer (AWS SME) - RLS/CLS Testing & Data Governance
Location: 100% Remote
Workstream: Data Lake
Note: Candidates will be onboarded in person in NJ office and San Jose office of Persistent Systems,
Role Overview
Seeking a Data Engineer with expertise in data governance and security validation within AWS Data Lake environments. The role will focus on validation of access controls, governance policies, and security frameworks built on Iceberg-based platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform end-to-end testing of RLS and CLS implementations.
- Validate FGAC policies across datasets and user personas.
- Develop and execute security and governance test scenarios.
- Verify access controls implemented through AWS Lake Formation.
- Validate governance controls in Apache Iceberg environments.
- Support audit, compliance, and security review activities.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve governance gaps.
- Produce validation and readiness reports.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of Data Engineering experience.
- Strong Spark / PySpark expertise.
- Working knowledge of Apache Iceberg internals.
- Experience with Delta-to-Iceberg migration programs.
- Experience with AWS Lake Formation.
- Strong understanding of FGAC principles.
- Hands-on experience implementing or validating RLS and CLS controls.
- Strong SQL and data validation skills.
- Experience with enterprise data governance and security.
- Familiarity with GDC.
