Position Summary
We are seeking a
Test Engineer to join a technology team focused on delivering and supporting business-critical applications. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating software quality across new projects, enhancements, and ongoing application support. The ideal candidate will have experience designing and executing test strategies, identifying and tracking defects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality software releases.
The Test Engineer is responsible for assessing quality assurance requirements to determine appropriate test coverage. This role designs, develops, executes, and maintains test plans and test cases, tests applications, documents and tracks defects, analyzes results, and supports root cause analysis and re-testing efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate quality assurance requirements to determine testing scope and coverage.
- Design, develop, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on business and technical requirements.
- Collaborate with development, product, and project teams to ensure software meets functional and quality expectations.
- Validate application functionality, performance, and reliability against requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Execute manual testing and document, track, and report defects throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Analyze test results and leverage troubleshooting skills to identify, document, reproduce, and communicate issues.
- Conduct regression and re-testing activities after defect remediation.
- Support quality control processes and checkpoints throughout development and release cycles.
- Prepare and communicate testing status, progress, risks, and results to stakeholders.
- Generate and maintain documentation related to testing, defect management, verification, and release readiness.
- Define and monitor quality assurance metrics and testing effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of software testing experience, including manual testing of web-based and enterprise applications.
- Experience supporting testing efforts for large-scale application development or implementation projects.
- Experience managing defects through the full lifecycle, including identification, documentation, validation, and closure.
- Experience working within Agile development environments, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, testing, and release activities.
- Experience validating business requirements, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications.
- Experience testing system integrations and data flows between applications.
- Experience communicating testing status, risks, issues, and results to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven experience creating test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and test execution documentation.
- Experience using Jira and Confluence.
- Experience using test management tools, with Zephyr preferred.
- Knowledge of APIs and experience validating API functionality.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and ownership.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall.
- Experience using Postman for API testing.
- Experience testing client-server applications, web applications, and web services.
- Knowledge of structured testing methodologies and best practices.
