Summary

Description:
Babbitting Service, Inc. (BSI) is a leader in industrial babbitt bearing manufacturing and repair and we support customers who maintain and repair critical rotating equipment-such as turbines, industrial pumps, compressors, and related machinery-where downtime is costly and turnaround matters. Candidates with experience as CNC Machinists, Manufacturing Engineers, Maintenance Planners, Repair Technicians, Pump or Turbine Technicians, Quality Inspectors, or Industrial Estimators are encouraged to apply.

We seek a full-time onsite Manufacturing Estimator to work at our company HQ in South Elgin, IL. As our Manufacturing Estimator, you will review used Babbitt Bearings and Seals to evaluate damage or out of tolerance aspects to then put together a repair plan that will serve as an estimate to customer to repair bearing / seal and associated parts back to acceptable standards. This includes visual inspection of parts, review incoming inspection data, communicate with customer on requirements of sizes and non-destructive testing requirements, look through provided OEM specifications, create job routing/travelers to take work through plant and departments, and follow your assigned orders from initial inquiry through final shipment-while building strong working relationships with customers throughout the process.

1) Quote & Plan: Review customer-provided information (drawings when available, photos, inspection results, job history, and specifications) to develop accurate cost estimates and create clear job routings/travelers.

2) Job Planning: Create logical process routings outlining manufacturing steps from receipt through final inspection and shipment.

3) Customer Relationships & Communication: Build strong working relationships with customer contacts while serving as the primary point of contact for the Repair Services orders assigned to you. Provide clear, proactive updates on scope, findings, lead times, and shipment, and ensure requirements are confirmed in writing.

4) Problem Solve: When information is incomplete, use job history and available documentation to clarify scope and build accurate quotes and routings.

5) Process Ownership: Own the jobs assigned to you and drive them forward with urgency, attention to detail, and coordination across internal departments to ensure all requirements are understood and met

This is an onsite, first shift position, Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00 pm . Manufacturing Estimator
