Mainframe Systems Analyst

Position Summary:

• We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Systems Analyst to support enterprise trading and investment applications for a leading financial services client.
• This is a Systems Analysis role, not a Mainframe Development role. The consultant will partner with Business Analysts, Product Owners, Developers, QA teams, and business stakeholders to analyze existing systems, gather and document requirements, define current-state and future-state processes, and support integrations in a mainframe environment.
• Candidates must have current or recent experience in financial services, investment management, capital markets, asset management, brokerage, or trading platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze mainframe applications, business processes, data flows, and system integrations.
• Gather, analyze, and document business and system requirements.
• Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications.
• Create current-state and future-state process documentation.
• Perform system impact and gap analysis.
• Partner with business stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve issues.
• Support API analysis and integration using SOAP and REST services.
• Write and execute DB2 SQL queries for data analysis and validation.
• Navigate mainframe applications to investigate production issues.
• Perform root-cause analysis and recommend solutions.
• Support testing, defect analysis, and production implementation activities.
• Collaborate with Development, QA, Product, and business teams throughout the SDLC.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong experience as a Systems Analyst in a mainframe environment.
• Current or recent financial or investment industry experience.
• Experience supporting trading systems, trading platforms, or financial applications.
• Strong understanding of core trading concepts.
• Extensive experience gathering, analyzing, and documenting business and system requirements.
• Experience documenting current-state and future-state workflows and processes.
• Strong systems analysis, functional analysis, and gap analysis skills.
• Hands-on experience with DB2, relational databases, and SQL query writing.
• Experience with SOAP UI, SOAP APIs, REST APIs, and API testing.
• Experience with data validation, system integration, production support, and root-cause analysis.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
