Cloud Platform Engineer and DevOpsLocation: Southfield, Michigan (hybrid setting 2 days per week onsite) or Mexico (Virtual).
The TeamThe S&P Global Automotive Data Strategy team is a close-knit, highly skilled group responsible for building and supporting large-scale cloud platforms and data processing solutions. The team operates across multiple disciplines, including cloud architecture, DevOps, business analysis, data analysis, and data engineering.
We design and develop cloud platforms, shared data assets, and reusable solutions that are leveraged across the organization. The team owns the DevOps function for a large-scale cloud-based data processing environment and establishes best practices for cloud infrastructure and data processing. We also provide guidance to other project teams on cloud modernization initiatives and scalable data solutions.
Responsibilities and ImpactCore Responsibilities- Architect, build, implement, and support new platforms using cloud native technologies.
- Design, build, test, and document new capabilities for a large-scale data processing platform within AWS native.
- Design and implement scalable, automated infrastructure solutions using infrastructure-as-code methodologies and cloud-native services
- Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities for improvement and develop new solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing platforms
- Develop and enhance solutions to improve platform performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency while supporting high-volume data workflows
- Provide operational support through on-call rotations, ensuring high availability and timely incident resolution, including root cause analysis
- Partner with data engineering and development teams to design and deploy robust automated deployment pipelines for platform updates and feature releases
- Design and build robust operational support solutions such as monitoring and disaster recovery
Additional Responsibilities May Include- Present solutions and transfer knowledge to user communities and senior leadership
- Provide guidance to teams building data pipelines within the AWS cloud big data processing environment
- Evaluate technical options and conduct proof-of-concept initiatives for new functionality
- Monitor platform costs and plan and execute remediation activities
- Conduct design and code reviews to ensure adherence to standards
- Enhance system monitoring, logging, alerting, and reporting
- Support release management activities, including coordination and communication with end users
What We're Looking ForBasic Required Qualifications- 5+ years of experience designing and supporting cloud infrastructure and services
- Strong experience with cloud-based data processing, storage, orchestration, and automation services
- Experience building solutions with key AWS technologies such as S3, Glue, EMR Serverless, Lambda, MWAA, DynamoDB, and CloudWatch
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools and automation frameworks
- Proven experience with designing creative new solutions in AWS native
- Experience with solution architecture, including evaluating technology options, design, build, validation, and promotion
- Proficiency in modern programming languages for automation, tooling, and platform development
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Additional Preferred Qualifications- Experience with serverless architecture in AWS native
- Experience integrating cloud solutions with scanning and monitoring tools
- Experience working with automotive data or other complex, domain-specific data sets
- Experience with cloud security practices, including monitoring, compliance, and vulnerability management
- Experience with cloud cost optimization, monitoring, and remediation
- Proven experience building and managing automated deployment and release pipelines
- Experience leveraging generative AI tools to improve efficiency, such as researching new technologies or assisting with solution design and logic development

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):- S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $140,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual's geographical location as well as experience and qualifications for the role.
- In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.
