Location: San Diego, California (Onsite)
Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-driven RF System Test Engineer to join a wireless systems team. This role is responsible for designing and executing automated RF performance tests across LTE, 5G, and Wi-Fi technologies. An individual who thrives in a lab environment and works with cutting-edge RF test equipment will find this position suitable.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Python-based automation frameworks for RF system testing.
- Execute RF performance tests for LTE, 5G NR, and Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax) technologies.
- Configure and operate RF test equipment including spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers, and channel emulators.
- Analyze test results, identify performance bottlenecks, and collaborate with design teams to resolve issues.
- Document test procedures, results, and provide clear feedback to cross-functional teams.
- Support validation of RF subsystems in both conducted and OTA environments.
- Stay current with wireless standards and contribute to continuous improvement of test methodologies.
Required Qualifications
Must-Have Skills:- Python for test automation.
- RF Test Equipment: spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers, etc.
- Solid understanding of 5G/LTE/Wifi protocols.
- Knowledge of RF simulation tools and wireless system modeling.
- OTA system performance testing.
Experience:- 3+ years of experience in RF system testing or wireless communications.
- Hands-on experience with RF lab equipment: spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, etc.
- Familiarity with debugging tools and techniques for RF hardware and firmware.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Pytest, Robot Framework).
- Familiarity with scripting for instrument control (e.g., SCPI, VISA).
- Exposure to OTA testing and chamber setups.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
