With a strong international presence and continued growth in North America, the organization is expanding its team to support large-scale deployments of new hardware and applications.
The organization is seeking a Senior Telecommunications Network Administrator to support the deployment and go-live of critical systems at scale. This role will be a key member of a 24/7/365 operations team, providing Tier 3 support for networking and IT infrastructure supporting emergency communication services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Tier 3 escalation point for complex technical issues.
  • Monitor, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents across network and IT systems.
  • Proactively monitor systems and infrastructure to identify and remediate issues before impact.
  • Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure, including cloud-hosted environments.
  • Support deployment and ongoing maintenance of hardware and applications.
  • Assess system performance and perform upgrades, patches, and optimizations.
  • Maintain and administer user accounts, access controls, and software licensing.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation.
  • Conduct system audits and maintain accurate asset inventories.
  • Test, validate, and deploy software updates in a controlled manner.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members.
  • Contribute to knowledge bases and training materials.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support customer-facing initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Juniper certification in Routing & Switching (JNCIP) and Network Security (JNCIP-SEC).
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in Security.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of Senior-level experience in network or systems administration, preferably in a NOC environment supporting ISP or telecommunications operations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across routers, switches, firewalls, and network infrastructure.
  • Experience with Juniper technologies, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 9), and OpenShift.
  • Experience deploying and maintaining virtualized servers and scalable network architectures.
  • Expertise in network monitoring, security tools, and observability platforms.
  • Ability to work in a customer-facing environment and manage ticketing systems.
  • Strong initiative, problem-solving skills, and intellectual curiosity.

Technical Expertise

  • Routing & Switching: MPLS, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, RIP, Multicast, VLANs, Spanning Tree, VXLAN, EVPN, IS-IS, VRRP, BFD.
  • Security & VPNs: IPSec VPNs, SSL VPNs, firewall configuration.
  • Systems Administration: Installation, configuration, patching, and hardening of systems; storage management (LVM, XFS, EXT4, BTRFS).
  • Monitoring & Observability: Tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Elasticsearch.
  • DevOps Practices: Git-based workflows, infrastructure as code, and automated deployments.

Additional Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including incident reporting and post-mortems.
  • Ability to remain composed under pressure and make sound decisions during critical incidents.
  • Strong collaboration skills in fast-paced, high-availability environments.

Work Environment

  • Initially onsite, with the potential to transition to a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite, 2 days remote).
  • Expectation to be onsite during the first several months for onboarding and training.
  • Part of a 24/7 operations environment, supporting primarily the North American day shift.
  • Fast-paced, collaborative team culture requiring both independent work and teamwork.

Preferred/Highly Regarded

  • Cloud certifications and cybersecurity certifications.
  • Experience in highly available, mission-critical environments.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Annapolis, MD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr.
