Job Title: Microsoft Purview Developer

Location: Remote

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Microsoft Purview Developer to design, implement, and maintain enterprise data governance, data cataloging, and compliance solutions using Microsoft Purview. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with data discovery, classification, lineage, and integration across cloud and on-premises environments. You will collaborate with data engineers, security teams, compliance officers, and business stakeholders to ensure data is well-governed, secure, and compliant with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement data governance solutions using Microsoft Purview (formerly Azure Purview)

• Configure and manage data cataloging, data discovery, classification, and lineage tracking

• Develop and maintain custom metadata scanning and ingestion processes

• Integrate Microsoft Purview with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Power BI, SQL Server, and other enterprise systems

• Implement and manage data policies, access controls, and role-based access models

• Support compliance initiatives (GDPR, HIPAA, SOX, etc.) through data classification and monitoring

• Develop automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, or ARM templates

• Monitor Purview performance and troubleshoot scanning, connectivity, and metadata issues

• Collaborate with security and governance teams to implement data loss prevention (DLP) and information protection strategies

• Document architecture, configurations, and governance standards

• Provide training and guidance to data stewards and business users

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

• Experience in data governance or data engineering

• Experience with Microsoft 365 Compliance / Information Protection.

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview

• Strong knowledge of Azure services (Azure Data Factory, Synapse, SQL Database, Data Lake, Power BI)

• Experience with data classification, metadata management, and lineage tracking

• Understanding of data security and compliance frameworks

• Proficiency in SQL

• Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Python)

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate or related)

• Experience with Microsoft Information Protection (MIP)

• Knowledge of Data Governance frameworks (DAMA-DMBOK)

• Experience in hybrid data environments (cloud + on-prem)

• Familiarity with REST APIs and automation pipelines
