Data Center Technician I (6-Month Contract)

Job Description

TEK Global Services (TGS) is seeking Data Center Technician I professionals to support a 6-month Data Center Farm Refresh project at one of NVIDIA's Reno data centers. These roles are contract positions only and are not contract-to-hire.
There are 5 total openings, and technicians will report directly to a TGS On-Site Lead, working closely with NVIDIA's onsite team.

Project Scope

This engagement focuses on installation, deployment, and decommissioning of data center hardware as NVIDIA refreshes existing infrastructure to support increased compute capacity.

Key Responsibilities

• Move servers and switches to required destinations for installation
• Inspect servers and switches for damage prior to installation
• Perform smoke testing to ensure hardware functionality
• Install servers and switches and cable according to provided wire maps
• Bundle and dress cables neatly in compliance with NVIDIA standards
• Coordinate with network administrators to verify proper cabling and live connections
• Install additional hardware components (NICs, hard drives, memory)
• Assist with unboxing and staging hardware
• Perform auditing of servers and consumables
• Decommission and remove assets per rack as required

Required Skills

• Data Center operations experience
• Rack and Stack
• Cabling and Racking
• Hardware installation and deployments

Break/Fix experience is a plus but not required

Preferred Skills

• Hardware troubleshooting
• Cat6 cabling
• Fiber optic cabling

Experience Level

Intermediate (Level 1 Data Center Technician)

• Must have DC Tech I installation and deployment experience
• OR
• Strong PC / hardware technician background with readiness to perform rack & stack work

Team Structure

This role reports to a TEK Global Services Lead, who will coordinate workload and daily priorities in partnership with an NVIDIA onsite contact.

• TEK Global Services-formatted resume
• IOI (video introduction)
• Relevant technical and/or managerial references

A background check is required. NVIDIA compliance standards apply.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $31.00/hr.
