Network Administrator

Description

We are looking for a skilled Network Administrator to join our team on a contract basis in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. This role focuses on supporting a short-term network upgrade project that involves replacing legacy Cisco switches with Aruba switches. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in network configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting to ensure seamless transitions during after-hours maintenance windows.

Responsibilities:
Stage, configure, and deploy approximately 30 Aruba access-layer switches, ensuring smooth cutovers during non-business hours.
Replace older Cisco switches, including Cisco 3750 and 2960 models, with new Aruba hardware.
Prepare switches for deployment, including physical installation, configuration, and removal of outdated equipment.
Validate network functionality post-cutover to confirm successful integration.
Perform Layer 3 switch configuration and ensure proper racking, cabling, and labeling within data closets.
Collaborate with the in-house IT team to align deployment with cloud-based infrastructure requirements.
Address potential wireless upgrade tasks following the completion of switch replacements.
Work during evenings and after-hours to minimize disruptions to daily operations.

Requirements

Proven experience with Aruba switching and familiarity with Aruba Central/console.
Strong knowledge of Layer 3 switch configuration and local area networks (LAN).
Hands-on expertise with Cisco-to-Aruba migrations, including switch staging and deployment.
Ability to work effectively in data closets, handling tasks such as racking, cabling, and labeling.
Availability to perform network cutovers during after-hours maintenance windows.
Experience in troubleshooting and validating network functionality.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to collaborate with IT teams and adapt to cloud-based environments.
