The Resilience Auditor is a specialized role focused on the independent validation and
auditing of critical data center facilities and infrastructure. This position is primarily responsible
for executing comprehensive resilience assessments to ensure that third-party data center
environments meet the client's strict availability and recoverability standards.
As a subject matter expert in Critical Facilities Resilience, you will be the lead "boots on the
ground" auditor, responsible for recording evidence of compliance, identifying site-specific risks,
and communicating technical gaps to both internal stakeholders and external service providers.
Key Responsibilities- Site Assessments: Lead and execute physical and logical audits of data center facilities, focusing on power chains (UPS, Generators, Switchgear), cooling systems, fire suppression, and physical security.
- Resilience Verification: Validate that facility redundancies (N+1, 2N, etc.) are not just designed but operational and regularly tested by the provider.
- Standard Alignment: Assess facilities against industry standards (e.g., Uptime Institute Tier levels) and internal resilience benchmarks.
- Evidence Collection: Systematically record and manage evidence for every assessment, including maintenance logs, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), Load Bank test results, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Audit Reporting: Produce detailed assessment reports that highlight vulnerabilities, single points of failure, and non-compliance with defined resiliency standards.
- Remediation Tracking: Work with internal teams to track the progress of identified gaps through to closure.
- External Provider Oversight: Conduct deep-dive reviews of third-party colocation and managed service providers to ensure they meet contractual resilience obligations.
- Certification Review: Analyze third-party audit reports (SOC2, ISO 22301, etc.) to verify that external controls align with internal risk appetite.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary technical point of contact for communicating resilience requirements to third-party facility managers.
- Resilience Patterns: Advise internal infrastructure teams on appropriate resilience patterns based on the specific strengths or limitations of the data center facility.
- Incident Support: Provide technical facilities expertise during significant infrastructure outages to help identify root causes related to the physical environment.
Skills- Critical Facilities Expert: Deep technical knowledge of data center MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems and their impact on IT availability.
- Tier Standards: Advanced understanding of Tier III and Tier IV design and operational sustainability criteria.
- Audit Methodology: Proven experience in audit techniques, including evidence sampling, interview protocols, and onsite inspection workflows.
- Hybrid Connectivity: Understanding of how physical network entry points and "Meet-Me Rooms" impact the resilience of hybrid cloud architectures.
- IT Stack Awareness: General knowledge of compute, storage, and network hardware to understand the power and cooling requirements of the hosted equipment.
- Meticulous Detail: Exceptional ability to spot inconsistencies in technical documentation and maintenance records.
- Professional Skepticism: An auditor's mindset-the ability to verify claims through evidence rather than relying solely on provider assertions.
- Communication: Ability to translate complex facility risks into clear, actionable business language for internal leadership.
