Job Type: Long Term Contract
Location: Hybrid (Frequent travel to Juno Beach, FL)
Job Summary
We are seeking experienced HMI (Ignition) Developers to support large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects within a SCADA environment. This role focuses on designing, developing, and commissioning standardized Ignition HMI applications to support renewable energy operations.
The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on expertise with the Ignition by Inductive Automation platform, solid SCADA integration knowledge, and commissioning experience in industrial or utility-scale environments.
Key Responsibilities
HMI Development
- Develop and maintain standardized Ignition HMI screens for BESS projects
- Design intuitive operator interfaces, pop-ups, reports, dashboards, and trending displays
- Implement responsive designs for Vision and Perspective modules
- Develop reusable UDTs (User Defined Types) and templates
Technical Implementation & Integration
- Configure Ignition Gateway, Vision, and Perspective modules
- Create custom Python scripts and SQL queries for advanced functionality
- Integrate HMI applications with historians and reporting tools
- Implement alarm management systems and notification protocols
- Support integration with PLCs and SCADA systems using Modbus, OPC-UA, DNP3
- Maintain version control using Git
Commissioning & Project Support
- Support FAT and SAT activities
- Assist with field commissioning and troubleshooting HMI-related issues
- Develop commissioning reports and testing validation tools
- Collaborate with SCADA engineers, PLC programmers, field technicians, and project teams
- Participate in daily commissioning calls and weekly controls meetings
Standards & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with HMI standards and cybersecurity frameworks including NERC CIP
- Maintain documentation, configuration management, and application standards
- Conduct peer code reviews and support continuous improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Engineering or related technical field
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Ignition (Vision and/or Perspective)
- Strong Python scripting experience within Ignition
- Experience with SQL databases (MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, OPC-UA, DNP3)
- Understanding of SCADA systems and industrial automation concepts
- Experience supporting FAT/SAT and commissioning activities
Preferred Qualifications
- Ignition Gold or Platinum Certification
- Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), inverters, and power electronics
- Familiarity with ICCP/TASE.2 and RTU communications
- Knowledge of NERC CIP cybersecurity compliance
- Understanding of power system operations and EMS applications
- Experience reviewing electrical drawings, schematics, and OEM documentation
- Experience with Git or other version control tools
