The SAP RISE & BTP Platform Architect is responsible for the administration, governance, operational support, and technical architecture of the SAP landscape across SAP S/4HANA, SAP RISE, and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). This role serves as the primary technical expert for SAP platform operations, cloud services, environment strategy, connectivity, security integration, transport management, and operational readiness.
This position is focused on platform engineering and ensuring SAP environments remain secure, stable, scalable, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
Key Responsibilities
SAP RISE Platform Management
Serve as the primary technical liaison between the organization and SAP RISE operations teams.
Coordinate SAP service requests, incidents, upgrades, maintenance, and infrastructure-related activities.
Oversee SAP system availability, performance, and operational health.
Manage SAP OSS incidents and work directly with SAP support organizations to drive issue resolution.
Support landscape planning, environment strategy, system refreshes, and tenant management.
SAP Basis Administration
Provide administration and operational oversight for SAP S/4HANA and supporting SAP platforms.
Coordinate kernel updates, patching activities, upgrades, and technical maintenance.
Monitor system performance and proactively identify optimization opportunities.
Support transport governance and release management processes.
Develop and maintain disaster recovery, backup, and operational procedures.
SAP BTP Administration & Governance
Administer SAP BTP global accounts, subaccounts, entitlements, and services.
Manage platform security, user provisioning, role assignments, and authorization models.
Support SAP Cloud Identity Services, Identity Authentication Service (IAS), and Identity Provisioning Service (IPS).
Establish governance standards for BTP service adoption and operational support.
Oversee lifecycle management of BTP services and platform subscriptions.
Connectivity & Hybrid Architecture
Design and support secure connectivity between SAP RISE environments and enterprise platforms.
Administer SAP Cloud Connector and related connectivity services.
Partner with network, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams to implement integration and connectivity standards.
Define and document firewall, network, DNS, and authentication requirements.
Support hybrid cloud architecture and operational integration patterns.
Cloud ALM & Platform Operations
Own SAP Cloud ALM platform administration and operational enablement.
Support transport path setup, change management, monitoring, and observability processes.
Enable deployment governance and release controls across SAP environments.
Develop operational standards and support procedures for Cloud ALM adoption.
Security & Access Management
Partner with security teams to implement secure access models.
Support SSO, SAML, IAS, Azure AD, and authentication frameworks.
Ensure compliance with enterprise security standards.
Coordinate periodic access reviews and platform audits.
Environment & Release Management
Define and govern SAP landscape strategy across Development, Quality, Pre-Production, and Production environments.
Coordinate environment refreshes, cloning activities, and test support requirements.
Support mock cutovers, dress rehearsals, and release readiness activities.
Establish platform standards that enable efficient project delivery and operational support.
Documentation & Architecture Governance
Create and maintain:
System architecture diagrams
Landscape documentation
Operational runbooks
Disaster recovery procedures
Support documentation
Technical standards
Ensure platform documentation remains current and audit-ready.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of SAP Basis administration experience.
- Experience supporting SAP S/4HANA environments.
- Hands-on experience working within an SAP RISE delivery model.
- Strong knowledge of SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
- Experience with SAP Cloud Connector and hybrid connectivity architectures.
- Experience with SAP Cloud Identity Services, IAS, and IPS.
- Knowledge of SAP OSS support processes and incident management.
- Understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, and security concepts.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
