Software Engineer II – AMIR/MDMS
Introduction
As a Software Engineer II specializing in AMIR/MDMS, you will play a crucial role in the AMI Replacement project, focusing on modernizing meter data management capabilities. You will be responsible for configuring and supporting the vendor MDMS application, troubleshooting software and integration issues, and participating in testing, migration, cutover, and stabilization activities. Collaboration with various teams and stakeholders will be essential in ensuring the success of AMI operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical execution for requirements, design, integration, testing, cutover, and stabilization activities.
- Create scripts, alerts, and dashboards to automate operational tasks and improve system visibility.
- Design and implement complex components and services, defining thread models, resource lifecycles, and failure handling.
- Define subsystem interfaces and integration strategies, producing sequence diagrams and state models.
- Review and approve designs and code for correctness and resilience, setting quality gates for acceptance.
- Guide validation strategy, including stress, endurance, and fault-injection tests.
- Assess technical risks, propose mitigations, and maintain a risk register for the subsystem.
- Lead small feature areas or initiatives, coordinating tasks, tracking progress, and reporting outcomes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education
- Required: 4-year degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or management information systems.
Experience
- Required: 5 years of related experience.
- Preferred: 5 years of experience troubleshooting complex applications, interface, data quality, and performance issues.
- Preferred: 5 years of experience working with cross-functional project teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Required: Ability to analyze performance, reliability, or resource-usage issues in system code.
- Required: Ability to influence technical implementation decisions within a project team.
- Required: Ability to work independently while coordinating with other teams.
- Required: Knowledge of hardware-software interactions and platform constraints.
- Required: Skill in designing and implementing moderately complex systems software components.
- Required: Skill in estimating development effort and complexity for system features.
- Preferred: Collaboration across technical teams to analyze software issues and support design decisions.
- Preferred: Reviewing vendor-provided source code and system data utilizing advanced SQL skills.
