This is an hourly wage position with a maximum of 29 hours per week and 1,500 hours per year. No state benefits are provided.

Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (Virginia ABC)'s Information Technology Services Division (IT) is seeking a wage Information Security Analyst I to assist the Information Security Operations team to administer the Information Security Program. These members will provide Tier-1 support and act as a backup for the vulnerability, identity management, monitoring, and/or patch management activities.

The Information Security Operations team provides ongoing information security operations tasks to support the success of the Authority's mission by primarily assisting with the Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems, analyzing threat and vulnerability legitimacy, and enforcing IT Security Policies, Commonwealth, Authority and third party standards, applicable laws, and industry best practices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Acting on work requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Performing user account and access administration.
  • Monitoring the operation, availability, and status of devices.
  • Assisting in the management of firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
  • Reviewing logs for security events.
  • Responding to security incidents.
  • Recommending, documenting and testing security patches and controls.
  • Supporting data encryption deployments.
  • Assisting in performing vulnerability testing.
  • Produce management reports.
  • Developing and maintaining documentation.
  • Other duties as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic knowledge of Information Technology and troubleshooting principles.
  • Basic understanding of creation and use of firewall rules.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good team-oriented interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal effectively with a diverse workforce and business partners.
  • Proficiency with basic hand tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, or as a member of a team, with a minimum direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated customer service, written, and verbal communication skills.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Information Technology or Security Operations experience.
  • Experience with PowerShell
  • Active directory experience and firewall experience.
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux file and application services.
  • Proficiency with PC office tools (Office 365, Word/Excel/etc., Google Docs/Sheets/etc., or equivalent packages).
  • Basic understanding of ethernet networking, IP routing, network administration protocols, and Intel-based computing
    architecture.
  • Understanding of or experience with any of these is considered a plus: DNS, DHCP, LDAP and virtually addressed load-balancers.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Candidate should have Information Technology or Security Operations experience.
  • Recognized Information Security industry certifications are a plus.
  • Experience with cloud computing.
  • Experience with basic troubleshooting.
