OverviewWe are seeking a
Network Field Engineer to support onsite installation and connectivity for
automated warehouse environments. This role involves setting up network
infrastructure, coordinating with construction and cabling teams, and working
with remote engineering resources during phased deployments. Travel will
fluctuate-heavier during validation windows and lighter during active build
phases.
Key Responsibilities- Install and configure network infrastructure within warehouse facilities
- Connect and validate Aruba and PLC/industrial switches
- Coordinate and oversee cabling vendors (fiber & copper)
- Plan MDF-IDF drops and rack connectivity
- Support remote engineering teams with onsite configuration tasks
- Execute test plans to validate network and system readiness
- Troubleshoot installation and integration issues
- Maintain accurate as-built documentation and checklists
- Participate in project review and status meetings
Required Skills- Strong routing & switching fundamentals
- Experience with TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and general system administration
- Basic wireless networking knowledge
- Linux command-line familiarity
- CLI experience on Cisco, Aruba, HP, or equivalent hardware
- Basic scripting (bash, Perl, etc.)
- Experience with tools such as packet sniffers, network probes, and spectrum analyzers
- Strong documentation, organization, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in remote/onsite environments
Additional Requirements- Ability to work with remote teams and follow detailed instructions
- Comfortable updating or creating documentation and test plans
- Technical degree preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Willing to provide limited on-call support
- Commitment to safety in industrial/warehouse environments
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Melrose Park, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $55.00/hr.
