Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Acquisition Specialist III to provide comprehensive contracting support across all phases of the acquisition lifecycle, including both pre-award and post-award activities. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in federal government contracting who excel at process improvement, data management, and proactive collaboration. You will play a key role in supporting acquisition planning, drafting and issuing solicitations, evaluating proposals, and managing contract awards and closeouts.

Responsibilities
  • Support acquisition planning, including developing acquisition plans and procurement milestone schedules
  • Participate in pre-award conferences, meetings, and Integrated Project Teams (IPTs)
  • Assist with refining requirements and maintaining awareness of milestones and strategic impacts
  • Conduct market research and prepare procurement documentation (SOWs, SOOs, PWSs, IGCEs, etc.)
  • Provide recommendations on acquisition strategies, contract types, and methods
  • Prepare and assist with Justifications for Other-Than-Full-and-Open-Competition (JOFOCs) and Determinations and Findings
  • Draft and issue pre-award synopses and present acquisition documentation for higher-level reviews
  • Use acquisition systems to support planning and execution
  • Maintain contract files and documentation in compliance with laws, regulations, and policies
  • Attend meetings with clients and customers virtually or onsite
  • Support contract award functions, post-award management, and contract closeout activities

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or seven (7) years of federal government contracting experience plus at least 24 hours of accredited college business credits (accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management)
  • At least five (5) years of documented experience in contracting positions, including "cradle-to-grave" Contract Specialist support to a Federal Government agency
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Operational security (OPSEC) awareness and practice
  • Ability to interpret and apply procurement regulations (FAR and agency-specific)
  • Experience with government contract-writing software (e.g., PRISM) and databases (FPDS, SAM.gov)
  • Familiarity with FAR 8, 12, 13, 15, and 16 contracting methods, Blanket Purchase Agreements, and Indefinite Delivery vehicles
  • Experience with federal-wide or multi-agency contract vehicles (GSA MAS, OASIS+, DHS enterprise solutions)
  • Ability to independently prepare, brief, and route acquisition documents and obtain government clearances
  • Strong analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Experience managing procurement sensitive, law enforcement sensitive, or other secure information is preferred
  • Experience administering or awarding contracts for law enforcement sensitive requirements or IT hardware/software is preferred for some positions
Work Environment
  • Washington, DC 20024 or approved remote locations
  • Remote work may be authorized based on Government needs
  • No reimbursement for local travel within a 51-mile radius
Salary range $ 85,500 - $ 112,300 dependent upon experience
