As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the success of substation projects; owning the selection, procurement, and coordination of complex electrical equipment that keeps communities and industries connected. This is an opportunity to collaborate across engineering disciplines, influence key project decisions, and see your work come to life from concept through construction.

This position will work on projects directly associated with FirstEnergy, one of ISG's trusted and longstanding client partners.

Essential Duties
  • Analyze technical data, specifications, and project requirements to identify and select appropriate equipment for substation projects
  • Serve as a key liaison between engineering teams and vendors, providing technical clarification and ensuring alignment on equipment specifications and requirements
  • Manage equipment procurement activities, including tracking orders and proactively ensuring delivery schedules are met to support project timelines
  • Coordinate with internal disciplines such as our engineering, design, and project delivery teams to ensure seamless integration of equipment into project deliverables
  • Maintain organized and accurate project documentation and equipment records to support team efficiency and project execution
  • Participate in regular team meetings to provide updates, address challenges, and support continuous improvement within the equipment team
  • Support overall project success by contributing to quality deliverables, meeting schedule commitments, and helping projects stay within budget

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, required
  • 1+ years of experience in engineering design, substation engineering, or a related field
  • Knowledge of electrical substations and the National Electrical Code (NEC) preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Windows-based environments
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly both verbally and in writing are required
  • Demonstrated integrity, accountability, and sound independent judgment
  • Ability to prioritize work, take initiative, and effectively manage multiple responsibilities
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to support or delegate tasks as needed to meet project goals
