Job: Web Application Developer

Our client, a software development firm, is looking for a Web Application Developer to help build applications that support mission-critical government and defense operations. This is a frontend-focused role for someone who wants to solve complex problems and build tools that enable data-driven decision-making for public sector clients.
You'll work on products that integrate and visualize large datasets, powering workflows like common operating pictures, alert-triaging inboxes, and resource allocation planning tools. These are systems relied on daily for real operations, so the bar for quality, usability, and reliability is high.
What You'll Do
Architect and build interfaces that make sophisticated, data-intensive workflows approachable including for non-technical users
Work directly with users to understand their needs and identify product gaps
Collaborate with teammates on UX for intricate, high-stakes workflows
Scope technical solutions and find incremental paths to shipping new features
Own APIs and schemas powering your frontend work, partnering closely with backend engineers
Get hands-on with a range of technical challenges: mapping/visualization, real-time collaboration, performance optimization, and complex state management
Tech Stack
TypeScript and React, with a component library for shared UI patterns, plus a mix of open-source and internal tooling. Standard CI/CD tooling for build, test, and deploy.
Requirements (Dealbreakers)
Has built complex frontend applications data-intensive UIs, real-time collaborative tools, mapping/visualization, or systems where multiple apps interact
Has owned or shipped projects/features independently through the full product lifecycle (design ship maintain)
BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
Baseline Expectations
2 5 years of frontend or full-stack software engineering experience with strong CS fundamentals
Experience at a Big Tech company or a high-bar startup
Strong proficiency in React, TypeScript, and JavaScript
Based in or willing to relocate to Washington, D.C.
Nice to Have
Experience or strong interest in defense or government technology
Founder experience, significant open-source contributions, or strong extracurricular involvement (campus clubs, hackathons, side projects)
