Job Description Summary
GE Healthcare is seeking an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer specializing in CNC machining and mechanical processes. This role will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and implementing advanced manufacturing solutions for medical device components, ensuring high quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

Job Description

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and optimize CNC machining processes for complex additively manufactured medical device components, including tool selection, programming (CAM), fixture design, and machine setup.
  • Evaluate and improve existing mechanical manufacturing processes (e.g., milling, turning, grinding, polishing, assembly) to enhance throughput, reduce scrap, and improve product quality.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability of new products (DfM) and provide input on material selection, tolerances, and design features.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies and SPC quality metrics.
  • Develop and maintain processes and documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and control plans.
  • Evaluate and recommend new manufacturing technologies, equipment, and automation solutions to improve capabilities and efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to global manufacturing technicians and operators.

Required Qualifications
  • Associates Degree in Mechanical Design, with additional Degree in Tool & Die Stamping/Mold-Making or Tool and Die Apprenticeship/Journeyman Tool-maker or Equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in advanced manufacturing engineering, with a strong focus on CNC machining and mechanical processes.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, Mastercam, NX CAM).
  • Strong understanding of GD&T principles, lean manufacturing principles, and SPC quality monitoring, and their application in manufacturing.
  • Experience with various materials and processes commonly used to produce components for the medical industry (e.g., stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, plastics).
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex manufacturing problems and implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment.
