Overview:

Our client is seeking an experienced SharePoint Project Manager to lead a critical migration initiative from SharePoint 2016 to SharePoint Subscription Edition (SPSE). This role will oversee the planning, coordination, execution, and successful delivery of the migration while ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. The ideal candidate has a strong background managing enterprise SharePoint upgrades/migrations, coordinating cross-functional technical teams, and driving projects from planning through post-go-live support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the end-to-end project management of migrating the organization from SharePoint 2016 to SharePoint Subscription Edition (SPSE)
  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, budgets, milestones, risks, and deliverables
  • Coordinate with infrastructure, security, application, and business stakeholders to ensure migration readiness
  • Partner with SharePoint architects/engineers to assess current environments, dependencies, integrations, and customizations
  • Oversee migration strategy including content migration, site collections, workflows, permissions, and third-party integrations
  • Facilitate project meetings, status updates, steering committee meetings, and executive communications
  • Identify project risks, roadblocks, and dependencies and proactively implement mitigation plans
  • Ensure proper governance, compliance, security, and documentation throughout the migration process
  • Manage testing phases including system testing, UAT, performance testing, and validation efforts
  • Coordinate cutover planning, go-live execution, and post-migration support activities
  • Track project deliverables and ensure deadlines are met while maintaining quality standards
  • Collaborate with change management teams to support end-user communication, training, and adoption efforts

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager leading enterprise infrastructure, collaboration platform, or SharePoint-related initiatives
  • Proven experience managing SharePoint migration or upgrade projects, specifically involving SharePoint 2016, SharePoint Online, or SharePoint Subscription Edition
  • Strong understanding of SharePoint architecture, migration methodologies, and best practices
  • Experience working with SharePoint migration tools such as ShareGate, Metalogix, or similar platforms
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid environments)
  • Experience managing cross-functional technical teams including infrastructure, security, networking, and application teams
  • Strong risk management, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 environments is a plus
  • PMP, Scrum Master, or related certifications preferred
