Job Title: Sr. Data Engineer - Microsoft
Work Location: The Woodlands, TX
Duration: Full Time Direct Hire with bonus and benefits package
Education/Experience Required: 10 years of experience with T-SQL and strong Microsoft SQL Server stack and modern data experience (including Fabric and Azure);

The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, optimizing, and supporting enterprise data platforms and analytics solutions across client's Microsoft ecosystem. This role focuses on Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Azure data services, and enterprise integration technologies to support analytics, operational reporting, self-service BI, automation, and enterprise decision-making across the organization.

The position partners closely with business stakeholders, analysts, enterprise application teams, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and integration teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions aligned with organizational priorities. This role supports enterprise data architecture, data pipelines, semantic models, reporting platforms, governance standards, and operational analytics initiatives that strengthen business intelligence and data-driven decision-making capabilities.

This role serves as a senior technical contributor responsible for enterprise data engineering, reporting modernization, analytics enablement, platform scalability, and operational reliability while helping drive enterprise transformation and long-term data platform sustainability.
Job Description & Responsibilities :

  • Design, develop, and support enterprise data platforms, analytics solutions, and reporting architectures across the organization.
  • Design and implement Lakehouse/Warehouse architecture within Microsoft Fabric to support analytics, operational reporting, and self-service BI initiatives.
  • Develop and support enterprise data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric, Data Pipelines, Azure Data Factory, and related Azure data services.
  • Create and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, semantic models, datasets, and executive scorecards supporting operational and strategic reporting needs.
  • Support migration of legacy ERP reporting and datasets from JD Edwards to Microsoft Dynamics 365 based data models and reporting structures.
  • Define and maintain enterprise data models, shared dimensions, governance standards, and reporting best practices across Fabric and Power BI environments.
  • Develop integrations and data ingestion processes using REST APIs, JSON, connectors, middleware platforms, and SaaS application integrations.
  • Support data transformations, automation, orchestration, and advanced analytics processes using SQL, Python, and related engineering tools.
  • Monitor data platform performance, pipeline reliability, reporting accuracy, refresh schedules, logging, and operational metrics to ensure platform stability and scalability.
  • Collaborate with enterprise application teams, analysts, and business stakeholders to align data solutions with operational and analytical requirements.
  • Support data governance, security, compliance, and access management standards across enterprise reporting and analytics platforms.
  • Participate in testing activities, deployment coordination, release management, and post-production support processes for analytics and reporting solutions.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including architecture diagrams, data lineage documentation, pipeline standards, and operational support procedures.
  • Support DevOps, CI/CD deployment pipelines, source control, and application lifecycle management (ALM) processes related to enterprise data platforms.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and AI-enabled capabilities to improve analytics maturity, automation, reporting, and operational efficiency.

Skills & Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Data Science, Software Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field required; equivalent experience considered.
  • Significant experience in data engineering, enterprise analytics, reporting platforms, or related technology functions.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Database/Data Warehouse, and related Azure data services.
  • Proven experience designing and supporting enterprise semantic models, Power BI datasets, dashboards, DAX calculations, and reporting architectures.
  • Experience building and orchestrating enterprise data pipelines, transformations, integrations, and automation workflows.
  • Strong SQL and data modeling expertise including relational and analytical data models, query optimization, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
  • Experience supporting migration of reporting and analytics solutions from legacy ERP systems such as JD Edwards to Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred.
  • Experience integrating enterprise platforms using REST APIs, JSON, middleware platforms, connectors, and SaaS integration technologies.
  • Strong experience with Python for data engineering, automation, scripting, integrations, and transformation activities.
  • Familiarity with Azure services including Azure Functions, Service Bus, Event Grid, API Management, and advanced integration capabilities preferred.
  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD deployment pipelines, source control platforms, and application lifecycle management (ALM) practices.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, security, identity management, compliance standards, and operational controls including SOX/ITconsiderations.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and technical documentation capabilities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
  • Demonstrated "can-do attitude, collaboration, adaptability, and commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated interest in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, with a track record of learning and applying innovative digital tools to improve analytics, automation, reporting, and operational outcomes.
