Role: Hardware Verification & Validation (V&V) Engineer

Location: Phoenix, AZ (Remote work with travel to the client site every two months for 3–4 days. Travel expenses will be covered.)
Duration: 12 Months

Job Description:

We are seeking a Hardware Verification & Validation (V&V) Engineer with strong experience in low-level hardware testing and Python automation. The ideal candidate will have expertise in developing Python-based validation scripts, troubleshooting embedded hardware, and executing board-level verification activities. This role requires hands-on laboratory experience, excellent debugging skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain Python automation scripts to support hardware verification, validation, and regression testing activities.
  • Execute board-level and interface-level validation tests to verify hardware functionality against system and product requirements.
  • Create detailed test procedures, validation plans, and acceptance criteria based on hardware specifications and engineering requirements.
  • Perform verification and validation activities throughout the hardware development lifecycle, ensuring product quality and reliability.
  • Investigate and resolve hardware, firmware, and test automation issues through systematic root cause analysis and debugging.
  • Differentiate failures caused by hardware, firmware, test scripts, or laboratory setup and coordinate corrective actions with the appropriate engineering teams.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, software, and systems engineering teams to validate new features and support product releases.
  • Monitor test execution, analyze results, and provide regular status updates, technical reports, and recommendations to project stakeholders.
  • Develop reusable automation frameworks and continuously improve test coverage, execution efficiency, and script reliability.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, including test reports, execution logs, troubleshooting guides, and requirement-to-test traceability.
  • Participate in technical discussions, knowledge-sharing sessions, and code reviews while promoting engineering best practices.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in Python scripting for hardware test automation, validation, and debugging (mandatory).
  • Hands-on experience performing Hardware Verification & Validation (V&V) for embedded or low-level hardware platforms.
  • Strong understanding of hardware bring-up, board-level debugging, and interface validation techniques.
  • Experience working with communication interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO, RS-422, RS-485, Ethernet, and CAN (Controller Area Network) experience preferred).
  • Proficiency using laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, digital multimeters (DMMs), power supplies, and signal generators.
  • Strong debugging skills with the ability to isolate issues across hardware, firmware, software, and test environments.
  • Experience writing modular, maintainable Python code with robust logging, exception handling, retry mechanisms, and timeout handling.
  • Familiarity with Git, version control workflows, code reviews, and automated test execution practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Aerospace industry is highly desirable.
  • Candidates from the Automotive industry with relevant hardware validation experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Experience in Medical Devices will also be considered.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems, hardware communication protocols, and manufacturing or engineering validation processes is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively within cross-functional engineering teams.
