Senior Data Scientistfor a
Contract assignment with one of our premier
Regulatory clients in
Rockville, MD or Tysons, VA.
This role is hybrid (3 days/week Onsite in either Rockville or Tysons office) The Surveillance Data Science team is looking for Python-heavy, cloud-savvy, data scientists to support and expand surveillance initiatives. Candidates will work with big data in AWS, develop prototypes, and create interactive dashboards (Plotly preferred). Strong communication skills are critical, candidates must be able to explain technical work to both business and technical audiences clearly and professionally. The role balances 80% assigned work with 20% R&D/innovation, including Graph-based algorithms and generative AI, with an emphasis on practical, production-ready solutions.
Responsibilities :
- Develop prototypes and models to support surveillance workflows; work closely with engineering teams to hand off artifacts.
- Build interactive dashboards and visualizations to communicate insights; Plotly Dash preferred.
- Apply statistical methods, signal processing, anomaly detection, and time-series analysis to extract actionable insights.
- Explore and implement GenAI and Graph-based algorithms to expand surveillance capabilities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and business users weekly; strong, polished communication is a must.
- Operate independently, efficiently, and flexibly; adapt to multiple priorities and fast-paced workflows.
- Mentor or guide junior team members as needed; contribute to the growth of the data science practice.
Requirements: - Python: Expert-level; extensive open-source experience; non-negotiable.
- Cloud / Big Data: AWS experience essential; capable of handling large datasets and working with engineering teams.
- Visualization: Plotly/Plotly Dash preferred; experience building dashboards for technical and business users.
- GenAI / Graph Analytics: Exposure to generative AI, graph-based algorithms, and agentic workflows; interest in R&D.
- Analytical / Statistical Rigor: Signal processing, anomaly detection, and time-series analysis; strong problem-solving.
- Communication: Must be able to clearly articulate work, influence stakeholders, and collaborate across teams.
- Education: Bachelor's required; Master's or PhD preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Generative AI: Experience with large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, and GenAI applications
- Experience with graph databases and graph analytics
- Knowledge of network analysis and graph-based algorithms
- Experience in financial services or regulated industries
- Familiarity with MLOps and model monitoring best practices
