About the Role
Kloud9 IT is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator with architect-level experience to help design, standardize, and support infrastructure across multiple client environments. This role is intended for a highly experienced professional (10+ years) who has worked extensively in MSP environments and is comfortable making architectural decisions, leading complex projects, and serving as the highest technical escalation point.
This position blends hands-on engineering with technical leadership. You will influence how environments are built, secured, documented, and maintainedwhile remaining directly involved in execution.
Core Responsibilities
Act as a senior technical authority and final escalation point for complex infrastructure issues
Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure client environments
Own architecture and long-term health of Microsoft 365, Windows Server, and identity platforms
Architect and support network infrastructure including firewalls, switching, VLANs, routing, and site-to-site VPNs
Lead high-impact infrastructure initiatives such as Microsoft 365 migrations and modernization projects
Ensure environments align with security, compliance, and best-practice frameworks
Partner with security, service delivery, and project teams to align technical decisions with business and compliance requirements
Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation and standards
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to other engineers
Communicate confidently and professionally with client stakeholders
Required Experience & Qualifications
10+ years of professional IT experience
Extensive MSP experience supporting multiple client environments
Advanced expertise in Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Active Directory / Entra ID, and network design
Proven ability to architect solutionsnot just support existing systems
Strong understanding of security fundamentals (MFA, backups, least privilege, endpoint protection)
Excellent documentation, prioritization, and decision-making skills
Preferred / Strong Plus Experience
Experience with CMMC, NIST 800-171, or similar security frameworks
Background supporting regulated or compliance-driven organizations
Experience defining technical standards and best practices
Familiarity with MSP tools (RMM, PSA, documentation platforms)
Relevant Microsoft, networking, or security certifications
