Software Engineer

Introduction

This position involves designing efficient algorithms to simulate physical phenomena, implementing them using advanced data structures, optimizing for speed and robustness, and producing high-quality software. Collaboration with the applications team to understand and troubleshoot customer needs is also a key aspect of this role.

Responsibilities

• Design efficient algorithms for 3D physical simulation, utilizing methods such as finite element or finite volume.
• Implement algorithms using advanced data structures for scalability.
• Optimize algorithms for speed and robustness through profiling and parallelization.
• Produce high-quality, well-documented, tested, and maintainable software.
• Collaborate with the applications team to understand and troubleshoot customer needs.

Requirements

Required Skills

• Direct experience with the implementation of 3D physical simulation algorithms, such as the finite element or finite volume method.
• Familiarity with iterative linear solver methods such as conjugate gradient or multigrid methods and with matrix-free methods.
• Experience in writing numerical solvers to solve the Laplace equation.
• Strong background in modern C++ programming, software engineering, and building code from scratch.
• Strong fundamental math skills, including linear algebra, calculus, and geometry.
• Experience simulating electrochemical systems.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in computational physics and scientific computing.
• Knowledge of partial differential equations (PDEs) and sparse linear systems.
• Expertise in high-performance computing (HPC) and parallel computing.
• Ability in algorithm optimization, performance profiling, and code parallelization.
• Experience with unit testing, test-driven development (TDD), code documentation, and debugging.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP), software architecture, and memory management.
• Experience in scalable algorithms and advanced data structures.
• Knowledge of semiconductor simulation and computational modeling.

Education

PhD or MS in engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science related to 3D modeling, simulation, scientific computing, or semiconductors.
