Summary

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, operation, maintenance, and security of FHN Financial's networks including wide area networks and local area networks for data, voice, and video.

This position works closely with other IT staff to ensure a highly available and highly responsive systems environment for FHN Financial, an energetic and fast-paced leader in financial markets. The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for implementing and maintaining security standards to ensure compliance with established industry security procedures and standards as well as FHN Financial and First Horizon Procedures. This senior technical position will also provide mentoring and leadership for less experienced staff members.

The successful candidate will possess a working knowledge of current Cisco networking technology and current techniques for management of performance, security, and operations including anti-virus, spam, patch management, maintenance, and tracking. This position will also have a solid working knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls and VPN technologies.

Areas of additional responsibility:
  • Network operations - responsible for high availability: implementing tools to monitor operations and ensure performance and high availability in a secure environment
  • Troubleshoot network issues and restore systems to high availability status
  • Develop, forecast, and manage network capacity requirements
  • Manage physical installations of network equipment as needed
  • Maintaining high levels of security in compliance with FHNF standards and First Horizon Procedures including the design, implementation and monitoring of network and security devices
  • Security and compliance issues, reporting security issues to IT Management or Corporate Security as appropriate
  • Firewall and intrusion detection / prevention systems design, implementation and maintenance
  • Liaison with First Horizon IT Risk on network security matters including vulnerability scanning and external, penetration testing and enterprise security incidents affecting FHNF
  • Design and manage the availability and security of remote access systems including virtual private network connectivity and LAN to LAN trade feed connections
  • Design and manage the availability and security of the firm's Internet Access
  • Asset management
  • Project management
  • Participate in Business Continuity Planning and Disaster Recovery procedures
  • Reports to management regularly regarding systems availability, operations & trends
  • Additional responsibilities will be assigned as appropriate

In addition, this position will maintain awareness of industry and technical trends and will advise Management of opportunities to better serve the firm's technical and business needs.

Qualifications:
  • FHN Financial requires at least eight years of experience in IT with two years of principal responsibility for network design and administration in a high availability, corporate environment. Customer service attitude and excellent communication skills are expected. The candidate must enjoy working in a professional environment with high expectations of the IT staff.
  • The successful candidate will have collateral experience in M365, MS Entra ID, and Cisco Iron Ports as well as the other disciplines mentioned above. The candidate must have a proven successful record of accomplishment in handling multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • B.S. in Computer Science or other qualifying discipline is preferred along with experience in a structured IT environment with direct participation in best practices, process documentation, change management, security standards, structured methodology, and project management.
