Work Schedule:

  • Monday Friday, 4:00 PM 12:00 AM (EST)

  • Occasional overtime for Saturday project migrations and extended migrations past midnight

Training Requirement:

  • Mandatory 2-week onsite training upon hire

  • Training schedule: Monday Friday, 10:00 AM 6:30 PM (EST)

Position Overview

The IT Operator Network Administrator provides hands-on network operations support for a large-scale End-of-Life Cisco switch replacement project across 200+ branch locations globally. This role is responsible for switch configuration, troubleshooting, device decommissioning, and coordinating multi-site network migrations across multiple time zones.

The position requires strong technical expertise in Cisco networking, operational discipline, and the ability to manage concurrent migrations while coordinating with internal teams, vendors, and remote support resources. This role is full-time onsite in Vienna, VA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Cisco switch configuration, upgrades, patching, and troubleshooting.

  • Support network migration activities, including wiping and preparing retired equipment for e-waste disposal.

  • Coordinate end-to-end branch migrations, including internal teams, external vendors, remote hands, and branch support personnel.

  • Monitor network health using multiple monitoring tools to ensure optimal performance during and after migrations.

  • Respond to alerts and alarms; identify and resolve issues proactively or through escalation.

  • Create, manage, and track incident and change tickets using a service management platform.

  • Lead and coordinate change management activities for scheduled migrations.

  • Interface with enterprise technology teams and vendors to resolve outages or performance degradation.

  • Collaborate with global vendors and contractors (e.g., telecom carriers, service providers) to restore or maintain services.

  • Maintain and update network documentation, procedures, and migration artifacts.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on network equipment and circuits.

  • Configure and manage remote site network circuits, including turn-ups, turn-downs, and troubleshooting.

  • Perform additional operational tasks as assigned based on project needs.

Required Qualifications & Skills Network & Technical Expertise
  • Strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking, including routers and switches.

  • Experience creating and managing VLANs.

  • Solid understanding of LAN/WAN architectures, protocols, and standards, including:

    • EIGRP

    • BGP

    • Metro Ethernet

    • TCP/IP

    • SDLC

    • RS-232

  • Experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining Cisco WAN/LAN infrastructure.

  • Experience with branch network circuit installation and deinstallation, including VLAN and WAP configurations.

  • Proven experience performing large-scale network migrations across hundreds of geographically dispersed sites.

Operational & Coordination Skills
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent migrations and tasks per shift.

  • Strong ability to coordinate across multiple time zones to ensure on-time project delivery.

  • Experience working with service management tools to open, track, resolve, and document incidents and change requests.

  • Ability to troubleshoot remotely in collaboration with onsite and offsite support teams.

  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of electronic principles related to diagnosing IT system issues.

  • Understanding of software/hardware interdependencies across desktop, LAN, and host systems.

  • Advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.

  • Familiarity with client operational environments.
