Principal Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Columbus, Ohio (Hybrid)
Employment Type: Contract

Role Overview

We are seeking an engaged and hands-on Principal Infrastructure Engineer to manage and execute the refresh of video conferencing equipment across numerous rooms. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter responsible for project management, vendor accountability, and the complete lifecycle of audio/visual upgrades, including design, installation, networking, communication, and troubleshooting. This role offers the opportunity to influence the program's direction by evaluating and implementing new equipment and standardized room designs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage small projects for audio/visual upgrades, holding vendors accountable for deliverables and scheduling.
  • Coordinate the refresh or retirement of video conferencing equipment in approximately 300 rooms.
  • Handle the design, installation, and operation of video conferencing rooms, including microphones, speakers, and camera angles.
  • Provide technical leadership for the design, engineering, and troubleshooting of modern video conferencing systems.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other teams to deliver reliable technology solutions.
  • Serve as the primary technical support resource, responsible for user education and interfacing with individuals at all company levels.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including procedures and standards.
Required Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience: A minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience is required.

Technical Skills:
  • 4+ years of video conferencing software engineering experience with modern tools, including MS Teams and Zoom.
  • Experience with the design, installation, and troubleshooting of modern video conference room hardware, such as Poly, Cisco, and others.
  • Proficiency in networking and security protocols related to video conferencing systems.
  • Demonstrated ability in analysis, problem-solving, and providing technical support.
Work Environment

This is a hybrid position based in the greater Columbus, OH area. Onsite presence of approximately 50% is expected as needed to support installations and troubleshooting at various local office locations. The schedule for in-office work is flexible and determined by project needs. Occasional after-hours work may be required to complete installations.
