Position Details- Job Title: IT Field Services Technician
- Contract Length: 6 months - 1 year
- Estimated Start Date: May 11, 2026 (Immediate need)
- Work Schedule: 100% on-site, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Role SummaryThe IT Field Services Technician is responsible for the
installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of structured cabling systems and supporting infrastructure in a field environment. This role supports network and telecommunications services through hands-on technical work and coordination with cross-functional teams. The technician will perform both routine and non-routine tasks with minimal supervision and will be expected to apply technical judgment to identify issues, determine solutions, and complete work efficiently and accurately.
Key Responsibilities- Install, maintain, and repair network and telecommunications cabling infrastructure
- Terminate, test, and troubleshoot Cat6A cabling
- Work with copper and fiber optic cabling, including testing and validation
- Read, interpret, and execute work based on floor plans, diagrams, and technical documentation
- Patch network equipment and support connectivity at the physical layer
- Perform on-site triage and troubleshooting to identify root causes of connectivity or infrastructure issues
- Resolve issues independently using established procedures, tools, and standards
- Coordinate with project teams and other technicians to support installations, upgrades, and expansions
- Assist with task planning and execution for infrastructure-related projects
- Apply safety, quality, and technical standards consistently across all work
Essential Skills & Technical Requirements- Strong working knowledge of BICSI standards
- Proven experience as a Cable Technician or Field Technician
- Hands-on experience terminating and certifying Cat6A cabling
- Solid understanding of both copper and fiber optic cabling
- Ability to navigate and interpret floor plans and infrastructure layouts
- Experience patching and supporting network equipment at the physical level
Experience & Competency ExpectationsThis role requires
advanced technical and operational experience. The technician is expected to:
- Work independently on routine tasks without requiring supervision
- Recognize, troubleshoot, and resolve common infrastructure issues efficiently
- Select appropriate solutions based on established practices, procedures, and standards
- Address less-frequent or more complex issues using sound technical judgment
- Support and assist less-experienced team members when appropriate
- Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and leadership
- Escalate issues of higher complexity or impact as needed
- Handle sensitive information with professionalism, discretion, and tact
Minimum Required Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED required
- Certification or vocational training may be required
- Associate degree in a related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience required
- 4-6 years of relevant experience preferred
Required Skills & Certifications- Cable Technician experience
- BICSI Certification - REQUIRED
- Cat6A cabling
- Copper and fiber cabling
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Columbus, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.
