Senior/Staff Ultrasound System Engineer - Medical Device (San Diego, CA)

We are seeking an Ultrasound System Engineer to engage in the design/development of our next generation Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) products that are helping to save lives around the world.

Your role:

  • Design, develop, integrate, and validate ultrasound imaging systems and subsystems.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, mechanical, and clinical engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Develop and evaluate system architectures, signal processing performance, and overall system functionality.
  • Perform system-level testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Help translate marketing/customer requirements into engineering specifications.
  • quality, and regulatory teams to balance security, safety, usability, and time-to-market.

You're the right fit if:

  • You have a minimum of 5 years of experience as an individual contributor in engineering, with a focus on developing complex systems.
  • You bring a strong understanding of systems engineering principles, integration, and testing, along with experience developing medical devices across the full product lifecycle; bonus: experience with ultrasound imaging systems or ultrasound-based medical devices.
  • You hold a BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • You demonstrate strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and contribute to high-quality, compliant product development in regulated environments.
  • You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position.

How we work together:

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company's facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company's main facilities, generally at the customers' or suppliers' locations.

This is an onsite role.

Philips Transparency Details:

The pay range for this position in CA is $114,000 - $182,000.

The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.

In addition, other compensation, such as an annual incentive bonus, sales commission or long-term incentives may be offered. Employees are eligible to participate in our comprehensive Philips Total Rewards benefits program, which includes a generous PTO, 401k (up to 7% match), HSA (with company contribution), stock purchase plan, education reimbursement and much more. At Philips, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each case.
