Job Title: GitHub Architect (GitHub Platform Architect)

Location: Remote – PST time zone
 

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced GitHub Architect to lead the design, implementation, and governance of enterprise-scale GitHub platforms. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in GitHub, strong DevOps transformation experience, and a proven track record of migrating from Azure DevOps to GitHub while enabling modern CI/CD and developer productivity solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and implement enterprise-grade GitHub platforms including repository strategy, access control, and governance models
• Lead migration initiatives from Azure DevOps (Repos, Pipelines, Boards) to GitHub using tools like GitHub Enterprise Importer
• Design and standardize GitHub Actions workflows for CI/CD, ensuring scalability, security, and reusability
• Define and enforce branching strategies, PR policies, and code quality standards
• Drive adoption of GitHub Copilot and enable AI-assisted development across teams
• Develop reusable DevOps frameworks and templates for enterprise-wide usage
• Integrate GitHub with cloud platforms, security tools, and container ecosystems
• Implement DevSecOps practices, including secrets management, code scanning, and compliance controls
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and best practices to engineering teams
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align GitHub platform capabilities with business and engineering needs

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with GitHub platform architecture and administration
  • Deep understanding of repositories, branching strategies, pull requests, commits, and branch protection rules
• Proven experience with GitHub Actions (workflow design, reusable workflows, CI/CD pipelines)
• Experience with GitHub Copilot implementation and adoption
• Strong experience with Azure DevOps:
  • Azure Repos
  • Azure Pipelines (Classic & YAML)
  • Azure Boards
• Hands-on experience in DevOps migration from Azure DevOps to GitHub
  • Familiarity with GitHub Enterprise Importer (GEI)
• Strong scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell)
• Experience designing and implementing scalable DevOps architectures

Good-to-Have Skills

• GitHub Copilot Certification
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Exposure to other SCM/CI tools like Bitbucket and GitLab
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) and infrastructure automation
• Experience with security best practices in CI/CD (SAST, DAST, secret scanning)

Preferred Experience

• Experience working in large enterprise environments
• Strong understanding of DevSecOps and platform engineering concepts
• Ability to drive standardization and governance across multiple teams
