Job Summary
The Microsoft Fabric Platform Expert serves as the technical authority for our enterprise analytics platform, owning the architecture, governance, and strategic evolution of our Microsoft Fabric tenant. This role is responsible for ensuring platform scalability, security, and cost efficiency while enabling decentralized, self-service analytics across the organization.
Blending deep platform engineering expertise with enablement and governance, this position bridges enterprise-grade data engineering with Power BI citizen development. The role establishes guardrails, design patterns, and advanced capabilities including Fabric Data Agents and Snowflake Mirroring to accelerate insights while maintaining compliance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Architecture & Infrastructure:
- Architect and maintain end-to-end Microsoft Fabric architecture, including OneLake logical design, domain structures, and workspace hierarchies.
- Manage Fabric Capacities (F-SKUs), monitor utilization, and optimize performance and cost through proactive capacity planning.
- Configure, audit, and govern Fabric tenant settings and security controls to balance agility with compliance and risk management.
- Implement and operate Snowflake Mirroring to enable secure, near real-time data synchronization across platforms.
Governance & Operating Model:
- Define and enforce workspace strategies, including naming conventions, lifecycle management, and deployment pipelines.
- Establish technical guardrails and reusable design patterns to promote scalable, secure, and high-performing analytics solutions.
- Design and evolve a Microsoft Fabric Center of Excellence (CoE), standardizing ingestion (Snowflake Mirroring), transformation, and consumption practices.
Data Innovation & AI Enablement:
- Partner with the business and AI organization for Fabric Data Agents support
- Track and evaluate the Microsoft Fabric roadmap, integrating new capabilities (e.g., Copilot, Real-Time Intelligence) into platform strategy.
Enablement & Advanced Support:
- Serve as the primary technical mentor for Power BI citizen developers, providing guidance on data modeling (Direct Lake), advanced DAX, and performance optimization.
- Provide tier-3 support for complex Fabric and Power BI issues, diagnosing root causes across capacities, pipelines, and semantic models.
- Deliver workshops, best practices, and documentation to elevate platform adoption and data literacy across technical and non-technical audiences.
Required Qualifications
- Microsoft Fabric Expertise: Proven experience architecting and operating Microsoft Fabric environments, including OneLake, Lakehouses, and Warehouses.
- Power BI Advanced Skills: Deep knowledge of Power BI (Premium/Fabric), including Direct Lake, complex DAX, XMLA endpoints, and performance tuning.
- Data Integration: Hands-on experience with Data Factory (Pipelines and Dataflows Gen2) and Snowflake Mirroring configurations.
- Engineering Skills: Experience with Python and/or PySpark in Fabric notebooks; familiarity with developing and operationalizing Data Agents.
- Communication & Enablement: Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear guidance for business users and citizen developers.
Skills: Preferred Qualifications
- Experience defining or operating a Data & Analytics Center of Excellence
- Familiarity with large-scale enterprise governance, security, and compliance models
- Background supporting decentralized analytics at scale in regulated environments
