Our Financial client in the Chicago area is seeking an Application Engineer to join their team on a contract to hire basis. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys backend engineering, cloud technologies, and contributing to tools that support development and SRE teams across the organization.
Role Details
-This position begins as a three month contract to hire.
-Primary location is Deerfield IL, but candidates who prefer the downtown Chicago office will also be considered.
-Hybrid schedule on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility.
What They Are Looking For
-Java and Python experience focused on backend development
-AWS experience or certification
-Ability and willingness to learn new programming languages
-Strong foundation in software development, engineering principles, and application development -Experience with integration testing, automation testing, and load testing
-Proactive approach to problem solving and strong communication skills
-Ability to support and collaborate with multiple engineering teams
-Interest in building internal tools used by developers and SRE teams to streamline testing and operational processes
Position Overview
-The Application Engineer will analyze, design, develop, test, and deploy high quality software solutions within an Agile environment.
-The role includes technical design, coding with test automation, documentation, and continuous integration practices.
-This engineer will also help guide junior team members, influence design decisions, and contribute to engineering communities within the organization.
Minimum Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
-Three or more years of experience in Information Technology or Software Engineering
Preferred Qualifications
-Experience with cloud technologies, ideally AWS Programming experience with Java or Python and related frameworks
-Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms
-Experience with CI and CD pipelines using Jenkins and Git or GitHub
-Commitment to high quality standards and automated testing
-Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
-Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Bonus Experience
-OpenShift Container Platform
-Contract testing using Pact or experience setting up a Pact Broker
-Golang
-Full stack development with React or Node.js
-Risk management knowledge
