Job title : Business Analyst Informatics

Location : Bay area, CA (Remote)

Note: Must have strong pharma domain experience.

Position Overview

The role of a Business Analyst, Informatics (BA) is to act as a liaison between business stakeholders and IT or other functional teams, helping organizations improve their processes, systems, and operations by analyzing and defining requirements and proposing effective solutions. BAs play a crucial role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical capabilities, ensuring that projects align with the organization's overall objectives and deliver value.

Responsibilities

  • Act as primary liaison between pharmaceutical industry clients and internal technical teams
  • Facilitate requirement gathering workshops and document business requirements (BRD)
  • Create technical documentation, e.g., integration specifications, data interface agreements / data dictionaries, data or process flow diagrams, data manifests, SOP's etc.
  • Provide client support e.g., scheduling and attending meetings, addressing client questions / concerns, entering and managing tickets in JIRA, assisting with data investigations and analysis, and providing consulting services in areas of expertise.
  • Data profiling and preliminary analysis of new data sources
  • Assist project managers and solution architects with developer task management, developer work prioritization, and review of completed development.
  • Assist with defining and recommending data quality checks and rules for new sources.
  • Assist with testing responsibilities from a business-user perspective.
  • Capture and present lessons learned from each project for suggested improvements to approach, project plan, and any other optimization suggestions

Qualifications and Skills

  • Pharmaceutical domain knowledge, especially sales operations and market access
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical data sources, vendors, and industry identifiers
  • Understanding of MDM systems, data warehouses, cloud storage, data pipelines, CRM systems and BI practices and tools
  • Understanding of Agile Project Management (Agile, JIRA, Kanban etc).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic SQL skills
  • Proficient at Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems independently.
  • Comfortable working in databases
  • Basic data analysis skills
  • Basic understanding of DevOps
