Summary

Are you an experienced scientist passionate about pushing the boundaries of machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, automated reasoning, or robotics? We are looking for a Senior Applied Scientist with a proven track record of transforming research into scalable, real-world solutions. You will lead complex scientific initiatives, mentor junior scientists, and drive innovation on some of the most challenging problems in the industry.
A successful candidate will be a strategic thinker and technical leader who thrives in ambiguous environments, demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, and excels in a fast-paced, ever-evolving landscape. As a Senior Applied Scientist, you will:
- Own and drive the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of large-scale scientific systems
- Define and lead long-term technical roadmaps that align with Amazon Science\'s strategic goals
- Mentor and guide Applied Scientists, research interns, and cross-functional team members to elevate the overall technical excellence of the team
- Collaborate with senior Amazon scientists, engineering leaders, and business stakeholders to identify opportunities, define requirements, and deliver impactful solutions at scale
- Publish and present research findings internally and externally, contributing to Amazon\'s scientific reputation and thought leadership
- Independently identify novel research directions and translate them into production-level systems capable of handling massive datasets and solving previously unsolved problems
The ideal candidate brings deep scientific expertise combined with strong engineering judgment, the ability to influence without authority, and a passion for working with diverse, cross-functional teams. You should be equally comfortable contributing original research and driving the practical implementation of solutions that deliver measurable business impact.
