Role summary:
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable platform capabilities, applying cloud-native architecture principles to enhance system resilience and agility. This role involves driving the full software lifecycle, integrating AI/ML components, and ensuring technical excellence through rigorous design reviews and data-driven decision making. You will mentor engineering teams, influence architectural direction, and collaborate across functions to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with business objectives. Your expertise will support continuous improvement and innovation, fostering a culture of technical leadership and operational excellence.
About the team:
The Walmart Fulfillment Services Billing team within the Global Marketplace organization focuses on designing and building scalable, resilient billing solutions that enhance operational efficiency and support growth. The team emphasizes auditability, traceability, quality, and reliability in processing invoices, incentives, and adjustments. Members drive architectural excellence, adopt modern technologies including AI capabilities, and collaborate across teams to solve complex problems in a distributed, high-scale environment. This team values technical leadership, innovation, and continuous improvement to deliver robust software solutions aligned with business goals.
What you'll do:
  • Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and agentic frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
  • Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Apply cloud-native architecture principles to build scalable, resilient, and agile systems using microservices and automation.
  • Conduct system design reviews to ensure quality, feasibility, and alignment with architectural best practices.
  • Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through documentation and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and use data-driven practices to optimize development processes.

What you'll bring:
  • Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices and containerization, to build scalable and resilient systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot for developing robust software solutions.
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark and Apache Kafka to handle large-scale data processing.
  • Skilled in software design patterns, API design, and software prototyping to ensure maintainable and modular code.
  • Demonstrated ability in DevOps engineering, CI/CD pipelines, and automation to enhance development productivity.
  • Data-driven decision-making skills to define metrics and optimize engineering outcomes.
  • Effective collaboration and technical leadership to mentor teams and influence architectural decisions.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00

Minimum Qualifications...
