Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Quality Engineer / SDET III to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in test planning, automation across UI, API, and backend, and CI/CD integration and a proven ability to design robust test frameworks, mentor engineers, and drive defect resolution for complex features.

Responsibilities:

  • Own test planning, execution, and automation for moderately complex systems or large features across front-end, API, and backend components.

  • Design, build, and maintain extensible test automation framework components and libraries.

  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins), monitor results, and address failures promptly.

  • Monitor test runs, identify failures, log defects with diagnostics, and partner with developers for resolution and verification.

  • Mentor junior Quality Engineers through code and test case reviews and provide constructive feedback.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in one or more domains such as UI automation, API testing, performance, security, or data validation.

  • Collaborate with developers, product owners, and business analysts to clarify requirements, identify edge cases, and define acceptance criteria.

  • Facilitate technical discussions on quality, propose improvements to test approaches, and evaluate new tools and methodologies.

  • Drive continuous improvement of QE processes using metrics such as defect density, test coverage, and escape defects.

  • Write and execute manual and automated test cases covering functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Author test cases in test management tools (e.g., qTest) using Gherkin where applicable.

  • Perform API testing with tools such as Postman and automation libraries; validate integrations with databases and downstream systems.

  • Contribute to automation frameworks (e.g., WebdriverIO, Selenium, Cypress) with reusable, maintainable code.

  • Execute regression, integration, system, and exploratory testing; log defects with clear reproduction steps and severity.

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and provide testing estimates and quality input on user stories.

  • Support release readiness with smoke and regression suites and validate production deployments.

  • Communicate test status, defect trends, and quality risks to the squad and stakeholders.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years in software quality engineering with proven test strategy design for moderately complex applications.

  • Proficiency in Java and/or JavaScript/TypeScript for authoring automated tests and framework enhancements.

  • Hands-on with WebdriverIO, Selenium, or Cypress; capable of building reliable UI automation and troubleshooting flaky tests.

  • Experience testing RESTful APIs using Postman, supertest, or REST Assured.

  • Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins and addressing pipeline failures.

  • Working knowledge of Docker and containers for test environment setup.

  • Proficiency in SQL and database concepts for data validation, test data setup, and troubleshooting.

  • Understanding of performance testing concepts and tools; able to execute tests and interpret results.

  • Familiarity with security testing practices and common vulnerabilities such as the OWASP Top 10.

  • Strong knowledge of QE methodologies and testing types including unit, integration, system, UAT, regression, performance, and exploratory.

  • Strong debugging and analytical skills across front-end, API, and backend layers.

  • Comfort with Git and GitHub, branching strategies, and pull request reviews.

  • Experience in Agile environments; familiarity with SAFe is a plus.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to convey quality concerns to technical and business stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and review their work constructively.

  • Experience authoring test cases in tools such as qTest, including Gherkin syntax.

Preferred Skills:

  • WebdriverIO with JavaScript or TypeScript.

  • Postman and Newman for API testing and automation.

  • Behavior-Driven Development with Gherkin and Cucumber.

  • Accessibility testing tools such as aXe.

  • Experience working in a SAFe environment.

  • Exposure to cloud technologies, preferably AWS.

  • Containerization with Docker for managing test environments.

  • Service virtualization or contract testing experience.

  • Observability tools such as Splunk or Dynatrace to support testing and defect diagnosis.

  • Contributions to test automation framework design and reusable libraries.

  • History of driving test process or automation improvements and presenting quality metrics to stakeholders.
