Job Title: Mainframe Software Engineer

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Mainframe Software Engineer to design, develop, and support enterprise applications running on mainframe systems. This role involves working across the full software development lifecycle, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring reliable, high-performance system operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications and systems
Participate in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including architecture, coding, testing, and deployment
Develop and support applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, IMS DB/DC, and MQ Series
Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
Contribute to backlog grooming, prioritization, and iterative product development
Monitor and support mainframe applications across multiple environments/regions
Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis
Manage dependencies and coordinate across multiple projects and teams
Ensure system performance, reliability, and scalability
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
10+ years of IT experience, with at least 5+ years in software development
Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, and IBM DB2
Experience with mainframe systems and tools, including:
SELCOPY, SORT
BMC DB2 Tools
Fault Analyzer, Application Performance Analyzer
REXX, File Manager
Endeavor, CA7
Experience working in Agile environments
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
Experience with IMS DB/DC and MQ Series
Exposure to DevOps practices or automation tools
Experience supporting large-scale enterprise systems
Knowledge of financial services or automotive domains
