Hadoop Developer

Overview:
We are seeking a Hadoop Developer to support the design, development, and maintenance of systems that manage and process large-scale data. This role is responsible for building and enhancing data solutions, contributing to system design, and ensuring high-quality, secure, and scalable applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop code for moderately complex system designs across multiple platforms

• Enhance existing applications and build new data-driven solutions

• Review code and contribute to development best practices and standards

• Write detailed technical specifications and identify system integration points

• Collaborate with developers, analysts, project managers, and external vendors

• Identify gaps in system and functional requirements and communicate impacts

• Estimate development effort, timelines, and resource needs

• Perform unit testing, debugging, and support issue resolution

• Support application lifecycle processes, including deployment and migration

• Evaluate vendor tools and perform product comparisons/gap analysis

• Ensure implementation of IT controls to maintain data confidentiality, integrity, and availability

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in software development within an IT environment

• Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

• Experience with unit testing, release management, and change management processes

• Proficiency with version control tools

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly

• Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, changing environment

• Experience programming in more than one object-oriented language

• Proficiency with standard desktop tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Visio)

• Experience using debugging tools

Education:
