Field Technician

OUTSIDE OF THE WASHINGTON DC AREA NEED NOT APPLY

ICT Mondial is seeking an entry-level Field Technician & Logistical Support professional to join a telecommunications operation supporting a large DC government agency. In this role, you will help maintain and enhance telecommunications infrastructure across more than 600 facilities in and around the District of Columbia, combining hands-on technical fieldwork with logistical coordination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, upgrade, and remove telecommunications equipment and supporting cabling at various facilities in collaboration with Network Engineers
  • Install and remove cabinets, racks, ladder racks, and other fixtures
  • Install, troubleshoot, and upgrade Wireless Access Points in collaboration with Wireless Engineers
  • Decommission and transport equipment from customer premises to agency facilities

Technical Support & Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to phone, wireless, and network systems
  • Conduct limited fiber testing and maintenance using tools such as multimeters, network cable testers, OTDRs, and fiber splicing machines
  • Troubleshoot outages related to phone and network cutovers

Logistical Coordination

  • Coordinate delivery and distribution of equipment, tools, and parts to various job sites
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and support field dispatch activities
  • Organize work schedules, transportation, and site logistics

Documentation & Reporting

  • Capture detailed notes, photos, and email summaries of work completed or issues encountered
  • Maintain and complete project documentation including test results and as-built documentation
  • Transfer test results and data from devices and meters using laptops or mobile phones
  • Use and update ticketing systems for each job; manage and share files via SharePoint/OneDrive

Team Collaboration

  • Rotate and support multiple internal service teams, including Fiber Maintenance and Provisioning, Data Center Facility, Voice Operations, Field Operations, and Warehouse
  • Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness as daily and weekly assignments vary

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years of trade service experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience diagnosing and solving problems with telecom, electrical, mechanical, alarm, or similar systems
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to operate a motor vehicle for up to 8 hours per day throughout the DC metro area
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 125 lbs
  • Ability to work on ladders and on your feet for 6–8 hours per day
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace
  • Comfortable using cloud storage platforms such as SharePoint and OneDrive
  • Proficient with basic hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, etc.)
  • Ability to respond to missed calls within one hour during the workday

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with measurement and testing tools: multimeters, current clamps, network cable testers, optical power meters, OTDRs
  • Familiarity with cabling standards
  • Experience with or willingness to learn LAN infrastructure and wireless access point configuration
  • Interest in pursuing certifications such as CompTIA A+ or BICSI
  • Experience with inventory management, receiving, and shipping

Work Requirements

  • Full-time onsite position; 8-hour shifts ranging from 6 AM to 11 PM, Monday through Friday
  • Availability for occasional schedule adjustments to support maintenance windows outside regular hours
  • Ability to support emergency repairs within and outside of regularly scheduled work hours
  • Willingness to work in confined spaces (with proper training) and operate power tools and forklifts (with training)
