Position Overview
The State of Texas is seeking a highly experienced Lead Microsoft 365 Support Engineer – Administration & Operations to support and administer enterprise Microsoft 365 environments.
The ideal candidate will have 12+ years of IT experience with strong hands-on expertise in Microsoft 365 administration, tenant management, security, compliance, identity, troubleshooting, automation, governance, and enterprise operations.
This position will serve as a senior escalation point for complex Microsoft 365 issues while working closely with technical teams, business stakeholders, and end users to maintain a secure, reliable, and highly available M365 environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support enterprise Microsoft 365 environments and tenant services.
- Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for Microsoft 365 services.
- Act as an escalation point for complex M365 incidents and technical issues.
- Troubleshoot Microsoft 365 connectivity, availability, configuration, authentication, and performance issues.
- Administer and support Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Viva, Loop, and other Microsoft 365 services.
- Manage Microsoft 365 tenant configurations, service settings, policies, and operational processes.
- Support Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD identity, authentication, access, and security-related activities.
- Work with Active Directory and cloud identity environments.
- Implement and maintain M365 security and compliance policies.
- Support Microsoft Purview and related data protection, compliance, governance, and auditing capabilities.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate administrative and operational tasks.
- Use Power Automate and Power Apps to support workflow automation and productivity solutions.
- Analyze M365 usage, performance, audit, and operational data to identify trends and potential issues.
- Monitor Microsoft 365 services and proactively identify potential performance, availability, and configuration problems.
- Participate in planning, testing, and implementation of Microsoft 365 projects and enhancements.
- Collaborate with security, infrastructure, application, network, service desk, and other IT teams to resolve complex issues.
- Work with business units to understand requirements and implement solutions that improve productivity and user experience.
- Support ITIL-based service management and ServiceNow processes.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation covering M365 configurations, procedures, policies, troubleshooting steps, and best practices.
- Develop and maintain knowledge articles and operational procedures.
- Provide technical training and guidance to end users and support teams.
- Ensure Microsoft 365 services follow organizational security, governance, compliance, and operational standards.
- Participate in incident, problem, change, and configuration management activities.
- Support high availability and operational continuity of enterprise Microsoft 365 services.
Minimum Qualifications
- 12+ years of overall IT experience.
- Extensive hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 environments.
- Strong experience with Microsoft 365 Tenant Administration.
- Active Microsoft 365 Certification – MANDATORY.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD.
- Strong experience with Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive.
- Strong PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 security, compliance, and governance.
- Experience with Microsoft Purview and related compliance capabilities.
- Experience with Power Automate and Power Apps.
- Experience with Active Directory.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across Microsoft 365 services.
- Experience troubleshooting performance and connectivity issues.
- Experience with ServiceNow and/or ITIL-based service management.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
- Experience providing user training and technical guidance.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional IT teams and business stakeholders.

Candidates must currently reside in the Texas area.
This is a 100% onsite position in Austin, Texas, 5 days per week.
Do not submit out-of-state candidates or candidates who are only planning to relocate to Texas.
