Job Title: Sr SAP Functional Analyst (R2R)

Location: Lisle, IL

Duration: 12+ months with the possibility of extension

Job Description:

We're looking for an enthusiastic SAP RTR Functional Analyst to join us and take the lead on designing and delivering complex finance capabilities across our Record-to-Report landscape including Finance & Consolidations. This is a design and architecture role for someone who genuinely enjoys solving hard finance problems and wants real ownership across configuration, enhancements, and integrations.

With a major financial transformation program launching later this year, this role will play a central part in shaping how we consolidate, report, and recognize revenue on S/4HANA. You'll partner closely with our Chief Product Owner, Functional SAP SME, business stakeholders, and the broader architecture team, and your design thinking will directly influence how we scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and architect RTR solutions on S/4HANA across the general ledger, sub-ledgers, and period-end close processes.
  • Support Central Finance (CFIN) and SLT-driven replication scenarios, including configuration, data flow design, and troubleshooting across source and target systems.
  • Lead design and configuration for Multi Bank Connectivity (MBC), including bank integration, payment formats, and secure connectivity setup.
  • Own design and delivery of Revenue Accounting and Reporting (RAR), including contract management, performance obligations, and revenue recognition scenarios.
  • Drive Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable design, including invoice processing, payment runs, dunning, credit management, and cash application.
  • Lead tax configuration and design, including integration with OneSource for indirect tax, withholding tax, and broader tax reporting needs.
  • Own account determination configuration across FI, CO, and integrated modules, ensuring clean, scalable mappings that support downstream reporting.
  • Support the design and delivery of financial consolidations, including intercompany eliminations, currency translation, and group reporting processes.
  • Contribute to profitability analysis (CO-PA) design where applicable, ensuring alignment with margin reporting and management reporting needs.
  • Drive enhancements and continuous improvements across RTR, balancing short-term business needs against long-term architectural direction.
  • Serve as the solution architect for finance integrations, covering cross-module touchpoints with SD and MM, and external systems through IDocs, APIs, and middleware.
  • Collaborate with enterprise and domain architects across the broader landscape to ensure RTR designs align with overall architecture direction and standards.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable functional designs, pressure-testing them against close timelines, audit, and reporting constraints.
  • Partner with functional leadership on design decisions, blueprint reviews, and solution governance.
  • Drive technical documentation, functional specifications, and design artifacts that reflect architectural intent.
  • Provide thought leadership on finance best practices and mentor team members on complex design problems.

What We're Looking For:

  • Extensive hands-on SAP FI/CO experience on S/4HANA, with a track record of contributing to design on large implementations or transformation programs.
  • Deep expertise across core RTR functions, including general ledger, asset accounting, intercompany, and period-end close.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including payment processing, cash application, credit, and collections.
  • Hands-on experience with Multi Bank Connectivity (MBC), bank integration, and payment format configuration.
  • Proven experience with SAP tax configuration and hands-on integration with OneSource, including tax code setup, condition records, and reconciliation scenarios.
  • Hands-on experience with Revenue Accounting and Reporting (RAR), including BRF+ configuration, contract management, and revenue recognition design.
  • Strong experience with account determination configuration across FI and integrated modules.
  • Solid background in financial consolidations, including intercompany processes, eliminations, and group reporting concepts.
  • Solution architecture experience with integration-heavy landscapes, including IDocs, APIs and middleware, and cross-module dependencies with SD and MM.
  • Experience collaborating with enterprise architects and cross-domain architecture teams to align solutions to broader technical direction.
  • Ability to own solutions from blueprint through deployment and stabilize post go-live.
  • Strong stakeholder management and the ability to communicate design trade-offs clearly to both business and technical audiences.
  • A collaborative, curious mindset. Someone who asks good questions, challenges assumptions constructively, and enjoys working across functions.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with SAP Document and Reporting Compliance (DRC), particularly for Mexico statutory and e-invoicing requirements (CFDI).
  • S/4HANA certification in Finance.
  • Experience with profitability analysis (CO-PA), including account-based and margin analysis design.
  • Exposure to SAP Group Reporting, BPC, or other consolidation platforms.
  • Background in industries with complex revenue recognition or consolidation requirements.
