Position OverviewFusion Innovation is seeking an experienced Technology Advisor / Systems Engineer (Expert) to support a mission-critical Laptop Portfolio Team. This role is responsible for defining, maintaining, and advancing the technical baseline for Windows- and Linux-based products, while advising current and future development with a focus on security, vulnerability awareness, technical feasibility, and innovation. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong communication and collaboration skills, serving as a bridge between engineering teams, portfolio leadership, and stakeholders. This position requires a proactive, self-directed professional capable of independently driving solutions and managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities - Review and provide technical input on product plans, roadmaps, and design reviews
- Serve as technical representative at boards, reviews, and engagements with external stakeholders
- Generate and maintain technical baseline documentation and required artifacts
- Support research, prototyping, and testing activities prior to formal test events
- Interface with development teams to identify, assess, and quantify technical challenges
- Identify and mitigate technical risks, vulnerabilities, and product issues early in the lifecycle
- Guide innovative concepts through the pipeline into productization
- Gain hands-on experience with portfolio products to support troubleshooting and sustainment
- Collaborate across portfolio management, technical leadership, and project teams
- Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and operating system advancements
- Perform additional duties as required to support mission objectives
Required Skills- Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Engineering, Business IT, or a related technical field and 10+ years of experience
- An additional 4 years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
- Experience with desktop operating systems including Windows, Linux, and macOS in customer environments
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work proactively
- Demonstrated ability to manage action items through completion
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including briefings and technical documentation
- Proven ability to clearly communicate complex technical topics to senior leadership and non-technical audiences
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and project control gate processes
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across large, cross-functional teams
- Hands-on development experience on Windows, macOS, and/or Linux platforms
- Strong understanding of low-level code across operating systems
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Visio, Visual Basic, and WSL
Desired Skills- Master's degree in a relevant technical discipline
- Intelligence Community experience
- Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills
- Familiarity with operating system architectures and commercial messaging platforms
