Senior Software Quality Engineer

Summary

Our client seeks a Senior Software Quality Engineer to join an application development team supporting multiple legacy applications. While test automation experience is important, the majority of testing will be manual. This role requires a strong developer mindset with independent troubleshooting skills and the ability to assist developers while demonstrating strong leadership and team advocacy.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with development team to discuss acceptance criteria and identify test scenarios
• Develop test plans and create test cases based on requirements
• Create, enhance, maintain and adapt existing automated tests as the product evolves
• Lead discussion of acceptance criteria and provide technical training and mentoring to team members
• Assess quality trends and drive continuous improvement for processes, tools, and product quality performance

Qualifications

• Bachelor''s degree or Associate''s in Computer Science or 8+ years related work experience
• Strong developer mindset with advanced Java or other object-oriented programming skills
• Deep expertise in GitLab, IntelliJ, AWS, Unix/Linux, VI, SQL, and SharePoint
• Strong independent troubleshooting skills and ability to assist developers in troubleshooting
• Experience with test automation development, execution, results analysis, and defect reporting

Preferred

• Experience implementing cross-browser testing using browser testing tools
• Experience incorporating automated testing via GitLab CI or equivalent CI/CD pipeline tool
• Experience using Selenium for test automation
• Ability to test REST services using API testing tools
• Understanding of SAFe Agile Methodology and continuous iterations

This is a multi-year contract opportunity with our Kansas City, MO client.
