About the Role S&P Global Energy is looking for a Carbon Pricing Specialist focused on Global Carbon pricing. The candidate will be responsible for market coverage, acting as an ambassador for Platts Carbon activities and publication of daily Carbon price assessments. This person will work as part of a team that produces commentaries, news and digital content, and price assessments related to their regional coverage of Carbon markets to help customers make informed trading and risk management decisions.
The Team The Carbon Pricing team analyses market activity and data and incorporates market knowledge into developing and publishing price assessments covering a range of carbon markets. They also report on burgeoning spot market and forward market prices and the factors moving markets as they develop. The team is global and collaborative and engages with the market through various mediums, including commentaries, stories, podcasts, blogs, and videos. It is vital the team works across other content sectors such as generating fuels, oil and LNG.
Responsibilities and Impact You'll be part of a team that produces actionable and informative content in the fast-growing and hugely relevant Carbon space. We aspire to have relevant price benchmarks around the world that will be vital to our customers as they provide price transparency to physical carbon markets. The content created by the team will inform customers regarding supply and demand developments, commodity flows, price trends, and infrastructure and regulatory issues and help develop a community around Platts Carbon coverage.
Responsibilities: - Publish daily price assessments according to Platts' methodology
- Drive development of new assessments in line with market developments
- Inform the market through regional price commentaries, news coverage, podcast and other digital content describing key fundamental market drivers moving prices
- Drive customer meetings to learn about important issues facing market participants and translate to new products or adjustments to Platts offerings
- Work in partnership with internal stakeholders to ensure adherence to Platts Editorial Standards
- Serve as an internal and external ambassador for Platts Carbon offerings and ambitions
What We're Looking For: We are looking for someone who is curious about energy markets, able to work within deadlines, and can handle multiple tasks. They should be responsible and accountable, and work to create a positive and collaborative work environment. It is vital they are adept at market engagement and comfortable representing Platts Carbon externally.
Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Journalism, Economics, Environmental Science)
- Strong analytical skills with a basic understanding of carbon markets and pricing mechanisms.
- Familiarity with market analysis or reporting within the commodities sector is a plus (internships or academic projects).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel); experience with statistical analysis software is a plus but not required.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn in a dynamic market environment.
Preferred Qualifications: - 3+ years industry experience such as a reporting, writing, or analytical background
- Graduate degree in finance, journalism, or related sciences
- PRA or industry experience in Commodities markets
- Deep knowledge of at least one Commodity heavily impacted by Energy Transition themes
- Comfortable to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines
- Willing to work as part of a team
- Knowledge of Carbon, Power or Energy markets
- Experience presenting to expert audiences
- Willing to travel for conferences, interaction with market participants, partners and team connectivity
