Kforce has a client that is seeking a Cloud Reliability Test Engineer in Maryland Heights, MO.
Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Reliability Test Engineer to lead enterprise reliability testing strategy across modern cloud environments. This role is ideal for someone who combines deep technical expertise with strategic vision - helping define how reliability, resiliency, and performance are built into systems from the ground up. In this role, you will establish testing standards, design resilience strategies, and guide teams toward scalable, reliable cloud architectures. Working cross-functionally with engineering, DevOps, QA, and platform teams, you will help ensure critical services meet high standards for availability, performance, and operational excellence.
This position balances strategic leadership with hands-on technical work, offering the opportunity to shape long-term reliability practices while actively contributing to implementation and innovation.
What You'll Do:
* Lead the design and execution of enterprise reliability testing strategies across cloud platforms
* Establish standards, benchmarks, and deployment gates aligned to SLAs, SLOs, and reliability goals
* Build and implement chaos engineering capabilities to strengthen system resiliency
* Define performance, resilience, and observability testing approaches for critical user journeys
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align reliability practices across architecture, development, and QA
* Evaluate and standardize testing tools, frameworks, and reference architectures
* Mentor QA and engineering teams on advanced reliability testing practices
* Support incident readiness and continuous improvement through measurable reliability outcomes
* Provide executive-level reporting and metrics around availability, latency, MTTR, and error budgets
* Contribute to quarterly and long-term planning by assessing risk, maturity, and ROI of reliability initiatives
REQUIREMENTS:
* 5+ years of QA or testing experience, including at least 3 years working in cloud or DevOps environments
* Hands-on experience with cloud-native systems and infrastructure automation
* Experience with Terraform and Kubernetes
* Experience with observability platforms such as Splunk, Datadog, or AppDynamics
* Demonstrated experience designing test strategies and improving testing maturity
* Background working in both on-premises and public cloud environments (AWS or Google Cloud Platform)
* Strong performance and load testing experience
* Scripting skills (Python, Go, Bash, or similar)
* Strong communication skills with experience mentoring or influencing technical teams
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with chaos engineering practices and tooling
* Experience with tools such as Parasoft
* Database or network testing experience
* Domain-driven architecture experience
* Familiarity with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd, Kiali)
* Knowledge of container security and GitOps practices
Bonus Skills:
* Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) background
* Security testing experience
* Cloud or Kubernetes certifications (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, CKA, CKAD)
* Multi-cloud environments
* Open-source contributions
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
