Notes:
Current Documentation Challenges
There are currently 84 policies and standards, many of which are convoluted, disorganized, and sometimes contain contradictory or outdated language.
This large number makes it difficult for business owners and IT leads to understand and meet expectations, causing confusion among stakeholders.
Examples of redundancy include multiple overlapping access management-related standards (privileged access, API key management, password management).
The goal is not a specific target for the number of documents but to streamline, optimize, and reorganize these documents into clear, concise, actionable resources.
Core Responsibilities:
Review and become familiar with existing 84 policies and standards.
Rewriting, cleaning up, optimizing, and enhancing documentation.
Gap identification and consolidation of overlapping standards.
Make documentation understandable for both technical and non-technical audiences, including international teams (North America and Europe), considering language and cultural differences.
Translate technical language into business-friendly terms; use multiple modalities (illustrations, workflows, diagrams, etc.) to facilitate communication.
Consultative, collaborative approach not an "order taker," but a partner who helps identify and solve problems.
Key Skills and Experience Sought:
Strong IT background; cybersecurity or GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) experience is highly advantageous.
Broad technical experience preferred over narrowly focused backgrounds (e.g., not just app or front-end development).
Understanding across domains: network security, infrastructure, API security, etc.
Innovation is highly valued: the ability to go beyond templates and traditional approaches. Candidate should innovate based on the unique needs instead of relying on pre-existing formats.
Ability to adapt methods for different customers (UK English, various cultural and technical backgrounds).
Experience working with international, diverse, remote, or distributed teams is a plus, but not required.
Preferred Tools: Standard Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
SharePoint familiarity helpful but not required.
Main requirement: adaptability and willingness to quickly learn and use new tools as needed.
Targeted for a senior, independent professional who can run with assignments and solve problems proactively.
Noted red flags: resumes overstating technical skill, over-reliance on templates/standard documentation, lack of innovation, or inability to adapt to dynamic environment.
Ideal candidate demonstrates both technical mastery and a creative/innovative mindset for problem-solving and documentation.
