About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced
Low Voltage / Structured Cabling Technician to join our team. This position involves installing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining structured cabling systems, including
Cat5/Cat6,
fiber optics, and various low-voltage infrastructure components. Technicians will perform hands-on work in commercial environments and travel to customer locations to complete service and installation projects.
What You'll Do- Install, service, maintain, and repair low-voltage cabling systems (Cat5/Cat6, fiber optic, coax, and related infrastructure)
- Perform cable pulling, routing, dressing, labeling, and termination
- Install and remove racks, cabinets, patch panels, cable tray, ladder racks, and pathway systems
- Conduct cable testing, certification, and troubleshooting for copper and fiber links
- Interpret and follow blueprints, drawings, and technical documentation
- Complete accurate documentation of work performed, materials, and test results
- Provide excellent customer service while working on-site at client locations
- Work independently, meet deadlines, and travel to jobs within a 2-hour radius
- Support after-hours, night, and weekend projects when scheduled
Required Qualifications- 2+ years of hands-on experience with structured cabling or low-voltage installation
- Strong skills in cable installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting
- Experience with Cat3/5/5e/6 and fiber optic cable (single-mode and multi-mode)
- Ability to install racks, cabinets, cable tray, and network equipment (rack & stack)
- Knowledge of telecom, data, security, and wireless cabling infrastructure
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly
- Excellent customer service, communication, and professionalism
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
Preferred Qualifications- BICSI certification
- OSHA 10
- Fiber termination and certification experience
- Manufacturer certifications (Panduit, Commscope, Corning, Leviton, Ortronics)
- Familiarity with BICSI, ANSI, EIA/TIA, and NEC standards
- Experience in healthcare environments (infection control, safety, BBP)
Physical Requirements- Ability to lift 50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally
- Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, crawl spaces, and overhead areas
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and crouch as needed
- Strong vision (color, depth, near/far) and clear communication abilities
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Syracuse, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00/hr.
